What's in the bag lady?

Image
I was tagged a while ago (maybe months now) from the lovely lady behind Every Little Counts to do a "What's in your bag" post. So here it is. You'll see that it's not all exciting and I like to think that I'm a pretty simple lady. Let's start with The Bag . This is the purse that I use on an almost daily basis. If I'm going out i'll usually bust out something a little fancier. I bought this purse at Value Village about 4 years ago, maybe more. I can't even remember it's been so long. I believe it cost me around $3.99 or so. It fits everything I can possibly need, it even fits my camera (Nikon D60) if need be. Now for the contents: 1. Mini umbrella. 2.Batiste "tropical" scent dry shampoo in travel size. 3. Benefit lipstick in "no competition". 4. Comb. You never know when you'll need a little tease. 5. Coin purse. I bought this one on vacation in Barbados . 6. Card purse. Your cards, my cards, metro cards. 7. My boo

Les années quatre-vingts

I know I mentioned my obssesion with crop tops a while back but did I ever mention how much I love blouses that tie at the waist? I'm pretty sure I had a few of them growing up and wore them to death. Not exactly appropriate for at 10 year old but I like to think I was just a little hip back then, if not, I have my mother to thank for buying such outfits for me. I found this one a while ago thrifting (probably in Canada) but I don't think I ever wore it! See!? This is exactly why I need to get rid of some clothing. I buy stuff then forget about it! Well, this blouse screams 80's so what better item to pair it with than my super 80's high waist gaucho short. On another note, I went for an eye exam today (first one in twenty years) and turns out I actually DO need glasses! haha. I have noticed that my vision isn't as great as it used to be and the Dr. said that I would've noticed this if I drove since I'm nearsighted but since I don't it never really occu

Improvisation d'une jupe

So this New york summer has been kicking my butt. Yup, I'm grumpy, sweaty, sticky, and lethargic. I don't want to make the effort of getting dressed up because the minute I need to change out of something I start to sweat and it all just becomes unbearable. Ok, enough complaining right? I just had to get it out of my system. There, gone. So this is another one of my Alaskan goodies that came for me in the mail last week. The only problem is that it's actually a dress. A dress that didn't quite fit me. Uh oh. I didn't want all the effort of sending it across the country to go to waste so I improvised. I zipped the side zipper of the dress half way, folded down the top part and belted it. Voila, a skirt. And again, paired with an American Apparel V neck and we're good to go. I promise a little more effort will be put into my outfits once the weather cools down a little. You can see the full dress on both Tieka and Elizabeth on our Delightful Dozen facebook page.

Une poupée vivante

Today was a rough day, which explains the late post. Last night I had plans to meet up with some friends that ended taking me all over the city. When I say "all over" I just mean from Chelsea/West Village, then to the East Village and made my way back to Brooklyn. The first stop was see say goodbye to not only my boss but she's also a very good friend that has been my pillar of support throughout these past years getting adjusted to NYC. She's been one of my biggest blog advocates and I've always been able to come to her for any sort of advice. Not having her around, not only in the office but just there for me to bounce ideas off of will definitely be an adjustement. I wish her nothing the but the best as she sets off on a new exciting journey with her husband with a new house in a new state. After that, I hopped on the train and made my way over to Lit, to meet Nickie and some of her friends. We danced and made some requests for the DJ, and then made one more s
