Hair post: Big Waves

Image
Just a little tutorial of my morning routine of setting my hair in rollers. A few weeks ago I mentioned that I bought some jumbo hairsetters to create a little more volume in my hair. Well, these things are the best decision I've ever made when it comes to hair tools. I haven't touched my flat iron in weeks! Conair Pro Babyliss Pro Ceramic Jumbo Hairsetter First, lets get a before shot. This is right after my hair has been washed and blowdried. I used Frederic Fekaii Volume boost Shampoo and Giovanni Deep leave-in Conditioner. I plug in the hair rollers and they're ready in about 5 minutes. Yes, that's fast! I can tell when they're ready when one of the roller's heat censor turns white.  I start by dividing my hair in two sections. Start with the lower half and divide it into two sections. Start rolling each section and securing with clip. Do the same with other lower side. It'll look something like this. (although I can never get them quite even, it soesn&#

Just for kicks

Today I'm not planning on going anywhere. I have plenty of things on my to do list and none of them require me to step out that front door. Thank goodness because I just really want sometime to stay home and get to work on a few projects. But, since I had a few spare moments (ok.. procrastinating) I decided to put together a casual weekend outfit that I would wear if I were to leave the house. One of my little projects is my weekly hair post. This week I'm going to show you the super easy steps in achieving these bouncy waves of mine. I'll get around to posting it tonight for those of you interested. I've also added a few items to Shop Idée's Closet , so you should probably have a little gander at what's up for grabs. Now if you'll excuse me the sun is just about to set and has the most beautiful light, I'm going to try and get one quick little outfit shoot in, maybe to save for a rainy day. Weekend wear

You've probably been hearing by now how chilly it is on the East coast. It's no lie, the temperatures have dropped and its no longer fun trying to pick out an outfit in the mornings because you don't even want to leave your house. But today was THE DAY. The day for what you might ask?? I finally made it The Moma! That's right, I think I've been talking about it for about 3 weeks now and I finally saw the Tim Burton Exhibit. Although it was crazy packed I think the whole exhibit was pretty darn cool. It featured alot of his sketches for different films and even had a few little figurines of key characters, which reminded me that I never saw The Corpse Bride. When I say sketches I mean, on a random piece of paper ripped out of a notepad, framed and thrown up on the wall. There were also some manuscripts (very rough drafts) of certain movies like Beetlejuice. Oh and I can't forget some cartoons playing right at the entrance featuring stain boy. Aside from the Tim B

Five questions Friday

As I'm trying to post these with a similar theme, this weeks questions are focused on personal style. 1. When did you develop your sense of style? How did you dress in high school/as a teen? I never really had that much attachment to clothes growing up. I'd throw on anything my mom had bought for me and that was that. I wore alot of jeans and shorts. I saved the dresses for special occasions, and even those were chosen by mom. In high-school I dressed like a boy. O.k, not that I tried to but I was really into snowboarding so I just really wore whatever was comfortable but always kept it a little edgy/punk/emo. Roxy, Billabong, Volcom, DCShoes, Etnies, all of those brands made their way into my closet. I also discovered Value Village when I was about 15 years old. It must've been 15 because I remember having to take the bus and I got my driver's license when I was 16. I loved to spend hours at that store just going through the racks and finding some pretty amazing stuff.

I can't take credit for this outfit, well not completely anyways. While browsing through the "featured" page on Weardrobe , I came across this outfit: I thought, how cute, thisoutfit makes me think of winter. Definitely in a goo way, almost like going up to a cottage or goin skiing, something along those lines. I love how the denim shirts a casual cool look in a way that a blouse never could. I ventured over to this lovely lady's blog: lowbrowstyle , only to find out that she had found the inspiration from this outfit: This picture is from my friends over at  Market Publique .You can find the original post here . I thought, ok :STYLE CHAIN!! So there were a few modifications along the way, kind of what happens when you play telephone and the message that once was: "I love cheeseburgers", turns into: " Ralph eats his boogers". You know what I'm talking about... The original outfit consist of loose fit pants, but then

Knit More Blog less

I've been thinking alot lately on what makes me happy. Of course, there's friends and family and warm weather and all of that stuff but I think what I was looking for is something that was missing. When Practical Princess emailed me the other day about making a headband for her, I was right on it. I found a beautiful lavender yarn and got out my bamboo needles and started knitting. I finished it so quickly that I amazed myself. And that is when it hit me, I feel happy when I'm creative, when i'm doing something with my hands, and making something unique for someone to enjoy. Naturally, I thought I need to do this more. But when? I'm already at a job that I love during the day, meet up with friends as much as I can, and keep up with life stuff. What its come down to is spend less time on the internet. I've been really trying to get back to everyone who comments on my blog, but then fell a day behind, then 2 days, now I'm about a week behind. I found that I s
