Christian Audigier's Ed Hardy Line
Christian Audigier's Ed Hardy Line
By Darryl G Green
By the time he was 19 years of age Christian Audigier was celebrated as the "king of jeans." He was designing jeans in a whole new way. He definitely paid his dues working for a number of large clothing labels, and obviously learning very much that he was able to later apply to his own label. His popularity grew and the elaborate parties that he threw did not escape wide coverage in the media.
In early 2005, Christian announced to the world on television, that he was leaving Von Dutch to start his own clothing line, to be called Ed Hardy. The Ed Hardy clothing line seems to be inspired by the current popular tattoo culture, by Hollywood and stars, and by the biker lifestyle.
Ed Hardy was known as the world's foremost tattoo artist. So Audigier acquired the rights to his artwork to incorporate them into his designs. This created a marriage of tattoo culture and fashion together, possibly for the first time. The results are undeniable. Mr. Hardy became famous. Obviously both Christian Audigier and Hardy have a love affair with bright colors and tattoos. This is clearly apparent in almost all the designs. So now Ed Hardy clothing is sold worldwide. The line is tremendously popular and sales are strong.
The product list seems to almost endless, and has grown to be far more than a clothing line. There are Hardy cigarette lighters. There is Hardy bar decor. There are Ed Hardy temporary tattoos. There is Ed Hardy perfume. The list continues to grow and grow.
Of course Christian Audigier's clothing line is very attractive. Quite notable to me is the fact that you don't have to be a fan of tattoos to appreciate the designs, or the clothing. Again the Christian Audigier line is not strictly made of clothes, but extend to watches, shoes and boots, and much more.
Now keep in mind that this is still designer clothing, designer clothing costs more money to purchase than non designer clothing. So Hardy clothing will never be included in every persons wardrobe. Yet Audigiers label is far less costly than the designs of many other designers. So this particular clothing line falls under the category of cheap designer clothing. That is very good news! That means that if you want something from Christian Audigier's Hardy label, you can find something that you can afford, if you really want to.
