La Tenue Perdue

Image
{The Lost Outfit} If you paid close attention to these pics you'd have realized that they're not recent. Nope, I took these back in November and never posted them! Well, since the weather has been all rain, slush and snow these past few weeks, this comes as a welcome surprise as I haven't exactly been pulling out all stops with my outfits. Since this sweater already creates so much volume, my thought process was to pull back the hair in order to balance everything out. I haven't worn my hair like this is a very long time. In fact, I have previously posted a tutorial on milkmaid braids that you can find here . It really is super easy. And just to remind you that there's still some stuff up in my blog shop ! I'm hopefully going to update it again this weekend so i'd say keep checking. Outfit: sweater} Kensie shorts}thrifted boots}Aldo

I didn't post yesterday because my outfit was highly weather inapropriate. I'm not sure what I was thinking, I must've been pretty tired because I looked like I was ready for Spring, Summer even. I'm back today and although I'm not liking ANYTHING in my wardrobe these days, I managed to get dressed and look decent. I'm planning on adding a whole bunch of items on shop idee's closet by the end of the week.  I'm just needing to unload alot of clothing as I'm feeling weighted down by all of the stuff I've accumulated recently. So be sure to check back, (i'll make sure I mention when things go up) because they're all going to be pretty cheap. I'd even accept offers at this point. If you see anything there right now, please don't hesitate to send me an email and name your price. These braids weren't intentional. I braided my hair last night to get some waves going this morning and well, I decided I'd just keep them in. Outfit...

Hair post: Milkmaid braids

Image
I know what you're thinking, it's Monday therefore this weekly hair post is late! But no, technically this is a long weekend and I'm off today, therefore still in the weekend. Right? Here's a step by step tutorial on how I do my milk maid braids à la lovely Zooey Deschanel. I first start off by applying one layer of my clip in extensions to add some length. My hair is just not quite long enough to make it all the way on top of me head just yet. (See that added about 4" to the ends) 1. Seperate hair at the base your head. Don't worry about dividing the top part. 2. Start by making low braids on each side. 3. Secure with small elastic band 4. Continue the same thing on other side. Again, starting the braid very low, behind the ear is best. Now you have two Pipi Longstocking braids! Just like this! 5. Take the braid and fold it over towards the top of your head. Secure it with a couple of bobby pins. 6. Add a few more bobby pins along the braid and secure it close...

Forgot about you

This dress might seem a little familiar to some of you, that's because I wore it wwayyyyyy back when, before this blog started, on chictopia. I wore it that one time then it got banished to the "must hem" pile. When i got home last night I looked around my apartment and realized that ALOT of  my clothes have found themselves into that pile, it's kind of scary actually. Things that I barely remember owning and thinking that I must've gotten rid of a long time ago are still waiting for a new life. So riffling through the pile, I found this little dress and thought that with the straight a-line skirt, it'd be a jiff to hem up by hand. And there you have it, the little 2-fer dress comes alive again. I made a little extra effort today and did the "milkmaid" braids look,.... with the help of a few clip in extensions. This is such an easy look, I'm contemplating why I don't do it more often, as braids are in right? I also really wanted to incorporat...

All this rain

Image
It's been raining non stop here for 2 days. I'm really hoping that we get some dry time tomorrow and Friday so that I can go back to my usual outdoor outfit pics. But for now, you'll have to make do with these. My outfit consists of a silk skirt that i've had for a while now but seldom wear because I find it a little fancy. I wanted something grey or neutral (not black) and could only find this so I tried to make it work. I downplayed it by adding a printed scarf around the waist then re-belting it with the original skinny belt it came with. Quite a bright idea if you ask me.Paired with a plain white tee (not the band, tee hee) and a denim jacket also makes this look alot more casual. Right? The braids are actually done using my clip-in extensions. I ended up going with the A.Wang side braid in the end but these were fun for the morning at least. Oh and finally a little detail shot of my fave accessories. The silver ring is from mimi & marge, sample sale, a few years...
