Bit by the Travel Bug

Image
Back in September I met up with the Modcloth crew to take part in their Travel Bug feature. Have you seen this yet? Bloggers from across the world let us in on their favorite places, restaurants, historical sites etc... in their city. Living in Brooklyn, and being a fan of catching live shows of local bands I had to opportunity to show them a few venues, and even take them to my favorite pizza place. Here are just a few pictures from the day but make sure to visit the modcloth blog for the full feature ! Outfit (all courtesy of Modcloth): dress} Papermaking party dress jacket} Motor city jacket boots} From Zero to Sexy necklace} One Woman band purse} Never a Dull moment bag

This weekend I realized that I really need to get my life in order. Not that it's in shambles or anything, I just need to organize it a little bit. I've come to terms with the ending of summer and begining of Fall. So what does that mean? Well, no more going out during the week (try to at least), maybe staying in one night during the weekend, get back in the habit of cooking at home and that means more than just making tacos, and finally going back to the gym. I swear, this summer has left me feeling tired, malnourished, bloated and broke. Doesn't sound to great does it? So yup, I guess i'm on the road to recovery from the Summer. Anyone else feeling like this is a new begining? This is what I wore out on Saturday night. Nickie and I met up for some dinner and then to the Brooklyn Bowl to catch Those Darlins', a Nashville based band. It was such a great show and a great night all around. After the show we headed out to her rooftop for one last drink before calling ...

My outfit from Friday. I'm falling a little behind in posting but it's all the same isn't it? As long as I'm posting I feel like it is. Yesterday I actually managed to get into the free Sonic Youth concert in Prospect Park. Nickie and I showed up at about 3:30pm and there were already a few people lined up, so we put down a blanket, Nickie had some snacks and we just waited. Doors opened at 6pm and well, the rest was amazing! New York is crazy like that, all of these bands playing for free. I mean, if you were jealous about that, wait until I tell you that I'm going to see Salt & Pepa (for free) tomorrow. I was kind of getting bored of New York there for a second but these summer concerts have me excited to be here all over again. Here's a super laid back casual outfit for you. I forgot about these pants and decided that they're very summer appropriate being cotton and cropped. Obviously I don't feel like getting dressed up everyday and yesterday was just one of those days. Tonight, right after work I'm heading over to Madison Square Garden, which is just a few blocks from where I work to see Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers in concert. Of course I'm meeting up with Nickie first because who else is more rock & roll than I am and that would have been on the ball and bought tickets in advance? I'm pretty grateful that I've grown up listening to them as well as some other cool rock & roll bands all thanks to my dad. You can bet that Nickie and I will be singing along to most of their songs. It's my first time in years attending a huge concert venue as I usually stick to small bar type shows, and this one being in New York with such a huge band, I'm excited at just being th...

Outfit: Top}kensiegirl Skirt}H&M Tights}Uniqlo SHoes}Thrifted This is what I threw on this morning after trying to get as much sleep as I could after last nights' show. What show you ask? Oh just a little band called She & Him ! EEEEeeeee! The show was so great, it exceeded my expectations actually, if you could believe it. Let's see, where to begin? Well for those of you that aren't following me on twitter, you missed the play by play from the begining of the show. ( I stopped tweeting once Miss Zooey took the stage as to not miss a minute!) The opening band were the Living Sisters, ok not really my thing. Could've done without but whatever I can see the harmony/bluegrass feeling that ties them to She & Him. Once the band took the stage everyone went crazy. Zooey was wearing a navy blue halter dress, her hair was straight (and so long) and she was tiny!!! Once she started singing though she really belted it out. Such a strong voice and presence...
