The After Party- Chictopia10

Image
So you may have noticed that I made myself scarce during these conferences but only because they were all held during the day and unfortunately, I'm a working girl. So I made the effort to try and attend as many nightly events as possible in order to meet all of the ladies I was so looking forward to seeing. The Juicy Bird store Annie ( Little Ocean Annie ) Annie ( Time Enough for Drums ) Starr ( A Thought is the Blossom ) and Nickie ( Wild as a Mink ) Me, sporting my vintage glasses. Starr found herself a new friend Jenn ( Jennifhsieh ) and Jasmine ( Transient Withdrawal ) Tieka ( Selective Potential ) and Starr ( A Thought is the Blossom ) yes Tieka, you may take this picture if you need to. And here are a few pictures from chictopia 's after party held at the Juicy Couture store. Unfortunately I missed the conference but I heard really good things about it. The after party was a nice little meet and greet of ladies that I hadn't yet seen that weekend. We sipped on...

Street Keds

Image
I'm being so productive this weekend, that I'm pretty darn proud of myself! Yesterday was all about cleaning up my apartment, which to be honest, looked much like a bachelor pad, i.e disgusting. I also went through alot of my spring wardrobe and decided what to keep, give, sell and made my way to Beacon's Closet for a drop off. I came back a little richer and much lighter! I love this feeling of just purging so much stuff that feels like it's been weighing me down all winter. These pictures were taken right outside my house on the other side of the street. You know how hesitant I get about bringing my tripod out in the real world but I figured it was so close by that I'd attempt it. It also helps that there was a big truck parked on the street right in front of this apartement complex, therefore hiding my little tripod set up. Right now chictopia has partnered up with Keds to host a contest in order to win a trip to New York for the next fashion week. I know, I kn...

Shop my closet update!

Image
Head on over to my blog shop as I have just updated it with some new items! All transactions must be completed by Monday in order for me to mail out the items before my vacation. So go on, check it out... www.shopideegeniale.blogspot.com What prompted me to make another shop update was the fact that I won chictopia 's Chic in the city contest! The contest was to make your own shopping guide for the city you live in, you can read my entry here . I love the local vintage stores and the friendly peeps that run them, so it's usually a quite pleasant experience to shop in Brooklyn. So, as I wait anxiously for my $150 gift certificate, I'm making room in my closet to hold all the new goodies that are to come! Thanks chictopia!

Then there was Saturday

Image
As most of you know, my absence on the blog this weekend was due to the chictopia10 conference which brought in many bloggers that I was really excited to meet! So here's a little recap of what went on Saturday. Most of these pictures were taken by Andrea , which is why they look so amazing. Christina & Jen Myself & Nickie We started out having some brunch with a few out of town bloggers, Christina ( Second Skin ), Jen ( Jenloveskev ), Nickie ( Wildasamink ), Julie ( Orchidgrey ), Tieka ( Selective Potential ), Elizabeth ( Delightfully Tacky ), and Andrea ( Blonde Bedhead ). This kind of broke the ice before heading out to the conference where we were to meet even more stylish ladies. Since we had some time to kill though, we headed out to a very large candy store and proceeded to buy in mass qunatities anything that suited our fancy. We kind of got silly. Julie, Nickie, Elizabeth Christina Myself & Christina Tieka After the candy store, we made our way to the gallery w...

Throwing out the rules

Image
I was so busy thinking about how I was going to get a way with pairing my brown boots with this black shirt that I completely ignored the fact that I was wearing navy and black. Together. Oh well, rules were meant to be broken.  I'm going to be attending the chictopia10 summit next month. I know I've already talked about it with some of you that are thinking of coming but I just wanted to put it out there. I think this is a fantastic opportunity to meet up with alot of you ladies that I've exchanged numerous conversations with, not only through blog comments but emails as well. I can't wait to have face to face conversations with the people that I have daily interactions with and feel like I know them already. That is what the blogging world will do to you. Please do let me know if you'll be in town that weekend! Forgot about you

Image
This dress might seem a little familiar to some of you, that's because I wore it wwayyyyyy back when, before this blog started, on chictopia. I wore it that one time then it got banished to the "must hem" pile. When i got home last night I looked around my apartment and realized that ALOT of  my clothes have found themselves into that pile, it's kind of scary actually. Things that I barely remember owning and thinking that I must've gotten rid of a long time ago are still waiting for a new life. So riffling through the pile, I found this little dress and thought that with the straight a-line skirt, it'd be a jiff to hem up by hand. And there you have it, the little 2-fer dress comes alive again. I made a little extra effort today and did the "milkmaid" braids look,.... with the help of a few clip in extensions. This is such an easy look, I'm contemplating why I don't do it more often, as braids are in right? I also really wanted to incorporat...
