Rose et noir

{Pink & Black) This may be the first time ever that I show my teeth in one of my outfit posts. It was never intentional to not show teeth but it's kind of awkward to smile and laugh when you're all by yourself in your backyard. I bought this skirt a while ago and have been having difficulty finding something to pair it with. Any ideas? This ensemble is kind of simple but I was so tired that I couldn't think of anything else. I feel like I have a whole modern victorian look going on. It's finally the weekend and i'm looking forward to a few things. Saturday I'm meeting up with Veronika of Tick Tock Vintage , who also happens to be the newest Delightful Dozen member! I'm so excited to start swapping with her as she has an amazing vintage style! Then on Sunday I'll be heading out early to the Bust Craftacular. it's where I plan on doing most of my christmas shopping so I've been looking forwad to it for a while now! Hope you all have a lovely w...

I wish I would've taken a picture of this cardigan when i first wore it. I got it up in Ottawa and it was originally intended to be a oversize comfy cardigan kind of look. Well, I threw it in the wash along with some of my other VV purchases and it shrunk down to my size ( thankfully, no smaller). Weird right? I've been on the hunt for oversize baggyness of pretty much anything these days, cardigans, sweater's, scarves (ok, they can't be baggy but oversize yes). I guess I just want to be able to wrap myself up in a blanket and step out the door! (no, I don't want a snuggie, thanks). Anyways, I've been scrambling to put together a Halloween costume and think i'm just going to go for a Wednesday Addams look. Not very original but easy, yes. Halloween is always such a big thing here in NY that if you show up anywhere without a costume, well, you can just forget about showing up. Anyone have a good costume lined up? Une jupe pour Vendredi

Image
{This post was written on Friday} Nothing beats a comfy outfit for a Friday at the office. I've had this skirt for months, yes months and this is the first time I wear it. shocking, right? I don't know what's wrong with me but I just couldn't get a decent outfit going with it. Until this morning. I got this cardigan in the mens section at Value Village up in Canada over the weekend. I like the fact that it's not so long, which helps my shortness factor but it's missing a few buttons that I need to replace. You probably hadn't noticed it until I said something right? Well, today I woke up to a bad hair day, yup, i get them too, so thank goodness it's cold enough to wear a toque (i'm Canadian, it's fine) to cover up the messiness on top of my head. Have a good weekend everyone! Outfit: cardigan} thrifted, via Value Village tee}AA skirt}thrifted, via Beacon's necklace} c/o Modcloth hat}made by me tights}HUE boots}Dexter, via Beacon's

Aidez-moi

Let's just face it, I love awkward length dresses and skirts. Here's another one that I just couldn't resist on my recent trip to Value Village. So I like the fact that the general conscensus is that we all need to buckle down and get life in order now that Fall has arrived. Someone asked me how I find motivation to get to gym and the answer is simple, when most of my clothing just doesn't fit right anymore and leaves me uncomfortable halfway through my day, I know it's time. You know the feeling?   I also liked a few of your ideas:  Making more meals at home  Only going out to eat once/week  Keeping a regular eating schedule Finding time for the gym ( i try to go 4 times/week ) Organizing your home work space keeping a daily/weekly list of tasks ( it feels sooo good to cross them off!) If you have any more ideas, please teach me the ways! I'm open to any suggestions and will most definitely post them on here for anyone else feeling the Fall changes. Outfit...

Une vie nautique

Image
This is going to be a super quick post as it's Wednesday night and well, I've mentioned before that Wednesday is my hair washing night! After last nights' event, Pay It Fashion Forward, which I will blog about very soon, I wanted to wear something easy and comfortable. For me Navy is my go to as I have alot of it so most of my pieces will match it, and this skirt is definitely up there on the comfort scale. After work I met up with Alyson, who blogs over at  Alysonisneat . I must say she's just as sweet and funny in person as she is on her blog! We got to know each other over a few glasses of sangria and shared some delicious veggie fajitas here in Park Slope. I can't wait to see her again before she leaves to go back home to Nashville. Un week-end à souvenir

Image
(Outfit: skirt, Cotton On gift from Postcards from | tank, Target | shoes, TOMS) Alright, here I am in the lovely town of Stroudsburg, PA! Ever since I moved to NYC I really wanted to make sure that I took the time to visit it's surounding areas and states as I'm not too sure how long I have over here in the USA. So taking a short bus trip (1 hour) out of NY and into PA, was exactly my idea of a great time! Nickie came to pick me up at the bus station since she had left a day early and I had to work on Friday. We then hauled out butts (our cobalt blue Honda rental) to the Pocono's Bazaar. Well, it was a little dissapointing as the ratio of crappy gadgets to vintage was 2:1. After the bazaar we stopped for lunch at the Four Seasons (diner). See, I'm showing you that we're actually at teh Four Seasons. Our first purchases of the day were these friendship bracelets. My second purchases of the day were these amazing head fascinators! I've been lusting over these for...

Une p'tite obsession

Image
Just to prove to you my obsession with crop tops, here's another one! I didn't do it on purpose, I swear. I t's just something I realized I hadn't worn before. I bought this little top last September while I was visiting some friends in Vancouver. We stumbled upon this little Mom & Pop thrift store on our way to, where else, Value Village and saw that they were having a HUGE SALE! So how could we not go in? Well, we were pleased to find out that the sale was 50% off any item that was red, purple, or green. While standing in line with our soon to be purchases, my friend and I were debating on whether that meant that the tag had to be a certain color of the actual garment? So we waited until it was our turn to find out. Pop, that's what I'm calling the man behind the register, picks up this top and inspects it. Really closely, and says: "Well, I think I see some purple in there". One dollar!" Cha ching !! It was the color of the garment after ...

Pour l'amour de rouge

Image
{for the love of red} Finally back to my regular outfit posts! This morning I waited to get out of bed until they announced the weather, just so that I could take some time to plan out my outfit. As soon as I heard 80 degrees, I was so excited that I jumped out of bed. Ok, not jumped but I was definitely thrilled to put together a true Spring outfit. No tights, no cardigan, and being able to leave the house in my denim jacket. This is amazing. Oh and did I mention that I dyed my hair over the weekend? As most of you know, i've been wanting to go red for some time now. Actually, if you're a redhead, naturally, or not, you've probably been bombarded with comments from me in awe of your red locks. Well, it was high time that I try it myself. I like the subtle color and the fact that it really gets bright in the sun. This outfit is mostly made up of my Value Village finds, with only the top originating from my closet. Outfit: Skirt}Value Village Top}mac & jac Shoes}Value ...

Village des Valeurs

Image
I thought I should post something just to let you know that I've made it across the border into Canada safely. I'm at my parent's house in Ottawa, Ontario for the Easter weekend and have been taking it easy, relaxing and eating lots! Oh my, it's so nice to have so much food at my disposal, I feel like a normal person eating at normal times and actually sitting down for meals. I can definitely get used to this. These pictures are from Friday and were taken by my lovely preggo sister after our trip to Village des Valeurs. Honestly, that's what Value Village is called once you cross the Quebec border. You see, since it was Good Friday everything was closed in Ontario. Not wanting to waste any precious time while i'm here, we took a little drive out so that I could stock up on some Spring/Summer vintage finds. I'm pretty pleased with what I've found so far and have even already been wearing most of my finds this weekend. This dress is the one that I had wait...

Just hanging around

Image
I feel like an eclectic old lady in this outfit. You'd think I'd have a dozen cats hanging off me, right? Since I wasn't really up to much on Sunday I thought that comfort was key. I started my day with a trip to the hairsalon. I just got more layers and a trim so I can finally see and my fringe isn't in my face. I'm still thinking about going red but that's too much of a commitment right now. More pondering on that subject. When I got home it was more "me" time. Finishe dup all the projects I posted earlier, took some pictures, knitted a little more, dishes, cleaning out the closet. You know, the Sunday stuff. I wore these leggings two days in a row. Don't judge me, I just couldn't resist! This cozy cardigan was bought last weekend on my Beacon's Closet shopping trip with Christina. It's so very 80"s, the only thing missing from it are shoulder pads. But hey, the taupe color and slouchy fit will be perfect come spring time weather...

A Welcome Change

Image
It's so funny when you have no idea what the weather is like until you hear the little ones upstairs leave for school and start hollering about all the snow on the ground. This is what happened to me this morning. No idea of this snowy wonderland right outdide my door until I took a peek to see what all the comotion was about. We've received so little snow here in nyc that's it's kind of a welcome change. It's actually not even that cold today. Everyday I try to make a conscious effort not to wear dark dreary colors. So I'm digging deep in my closets/drawers to pull out anything that's not grey/black/navy. And hopefully come out with a coesive outfit. Turns out that today is a completely thrifted outfit. Actually, even my tights were on sale, what a steal. The bow is from a giveaway that I won from a crafty lady named Christine. She blogs at Tie Me A Bow  , covering everything from outfits, yummy food, her handmade creations etc.. In fact, she's having a...

A Splash of Color

Image
Finally! I've added a little color to my life. It left me for a while but last night I worked hard to get this little number hemmed and I can finally wear it! I bought it at Value Village over Thanksgiving weekend and have been meaning to hem it ever since, I chopped off close to 10 inches on this one. I'm also debuting my "jeggings" (jeans+leggings=jegging). So far they're alot warmer than regular leggings which on days like today is quite necessary. But I do think they're kind of a "trendy" piece and not going to stick around for very long. My hair is basically what happens the day after using the hairsetters (see below for tutorial). It's pretty low maintenance which is good because I really love my sleep-in time. I spent some time knitting this week and will soon have a couple new headbands up! And i'm always adding more thing to Shop Idee's Closet . So make sure to check it out ...

A case of the paisleys

Image
I was really set on wearing a sweatshirt and pants today but, 1. I couldn't find this particular sweatshirt that I've had forever, and 2. It was 48 degrees here in nyc today! So while fishing around for a top to wear with ths skirt I found this little gem! I'm not even sure when it was purchased, maybe back in September when I went to Vancouver, or maybe it was over the Thanksgiving holiday in Ottawa? Hmm, anywho, I was super stoked to have found it! I'm trying to go with a casual friday look here which is why I added the denim vest. Otherwise this outfit would totally work for night. O.k, I'm cutting this short to start answering some questions of yours. Happy (long) weekend everyone ! Outfit: Top}Vintage Skirt}kensie Shoes}Jeffrey Campbell Vest}F21

A real vacation day

Image
Today was my first day of sleeping in, although that was only until 9am. I've been so crazy busy in the past few days that I've hardly had time to even think of an outfit. I've been wearing my leggings, t-shirt and cardigan so much that my sister has even started mocking me. That said, today I thought I'd make an effort and pull something together. Now, keep in mind that I usually don't pack alot (enough) since I hate having to check my bag at the airport. This time, I did lug a huge suitcase across the border but I swear it barely had anything for me. It was filled with gifts for friends/family, and some clothing I've decided to bring home to my sister. So looking in my guest room closet, I found a few things that I had either inherited from my sister (this dress), or left here from last time I visited (vest & shoes) and even some things that I've acquired in the last few days on my value village hunt (cardigan & scarf). Together it makes for a cozy...
