Tenue Recrée

Image
{Recreated Outfit} Confession: I wore this outfit out at a show a few weeks ago but since I never took pictures, I wanted to recreate it for the blog. This is a more toned down look more suitable for daytime. For the night time look I had paired it with some ripped up black tights and black boots. It's been a while since I wore a headband, I used to wear them all of the time last year, or was it the year before? They just seem to be a little cumbersome sometimes but maybe I just need to find the right scarves that won't slip so much. I also just wanted to say that I have started accepting sponsors for this blog. If you're a small company looking for a way to gain a little more exposure and think that this blog is a good match for you please feel free to email me. I have super afforadable rates and am always willing to work something out that would work for the both of us. I'd love to get a few etsy sellers up here, so please, don't be shy! Well, not much else to sa...

Un week-end à souvenir

Image
(Outfit: skirt, Cotton On gift from Postcards from | tank, Target | shoes, TOMS) Alright, here I am in the lovely town of Stroudsburg, PA! Ever since I moved to NYC I really wanted to make sure that I took the time to visit it's surounding areas and states as I'm not too sure how long I have over here in the USA. So taking a short bus trip (1 hour) out of NY and into PA, was exactly my idea of a great time! Nickie came to pick me up at the bus station since she had left a day early and I had to work on Friday. We then hauled out butts (our cobalt blue Honda rental) to the Pocono's Bazaar. Well, it was a little dissapointing as the ratio of crappy gadgets to vintage was 2:1. After the bazaar we stopped for lunch at the Four Seasons (diner). See, I'm showing you that we're actually at teh Four Seasons. Our first purchases of the day were these friendship bracelets. My second purchases of the day were these amazing head fascinators! I've been lusting over these for...

Dyn-O-mite dress

Image
As I lay here in bed writting this, with my laptop propped up on my knees, I'm just praying for all of it to make sense. You see, it's currently 1:05am and I'm scheduling this post for Friday morning. Overly tired, and um... one too many glasses (ok bottles) of wine later I really wanted this to be posted for Friday but didn't think I'd have the time to actually sit down and write  any of it at the time. I currently have a friend/coworker in town from Vancouver so I've been a little preoccupied these past two days but I'm definitely not complaining. I love having a guest over and showing them around, especally showing them all of the non- uber touristy things but the real, this is where people actually hang out places on NYC. Back to this post. If this dress looks familiar, you've probably been browsing through the modcloth site. Busted! Oh wait, that's just if you're anything like me and take a gander at their New Arrivals during the day while I...

Une boucle, ça fait jolie

I don't even know where to start with everything that is happening in my life right now. Everything is just speeding by so fast that i wish it would slow down but then, I'm excited for whats to come. How does one choose?  I  mentioned on Sunday, that I was adding new headbands to my etsy shop. They're now up and look like like the one i'm wearing today. This black one is actually a special request that I finished last night but other more springtime colors are available. I want to thank everybody that takes the time to browse through my etsy and blog shop . The response has been so positive and encouraging that I'm going to continue and update as much as I can. I actually have a ton of Spring stuff to photograph so make sure you take a peak before it gets snatched up. Please don't hesitate to email me if you're interested in an item. I usually get back to you same day and if possible, mail out your item the next day the trasaction is completed. I'm keepi...

It's Bliss

Image
Yoah, Sunday night already? I was having so much fun striking off all the stuff I had on my to-do list! Plus, I'm not done, so the weekend can't be over yet! That's what you get for a gloomy rainy weekend. I think I wasn't as productive as I wanted to be due to alot of napping and catching up on some Amazing Race marathons. I honestly do love that show, maybe i'll elaborate more on that later when they get towards the end. But what I did get done was these two new headbands. They were just a little project of mine that I wanted to try out. Next up I think I'm going to make some more skinny band ones just like these for Springtime weather (if it ever gets here). You can find these listed on my etsy . I'm always up for making some custom headbands as well. If you have an idea but haven't found it yet, please don't hesitate to email me! Also going on this weekend were items up for sale in my blog shop . I'm a maniac, I know. Lots of rummaging throug...

You look like a doily

Image
Did anyone get that 90's movie quote I used for my title? Please say you did! You know when you're thrifting and you find something so great, you wonder how it's possible that no one has snatched it up yet? Well, thats how I feel about this dress. As soon as I spotted that lace collar detail and antique brass buttons, this little number was mine. I then proceeded to think that it was too good to be true and examined every little nook and cranny to make sure there wasn't anything obviously non repairable. To my surprise, there wasn't! I didn't even try it on even though there were no tags attached and I was taking a chance that it would just magically fit my body, it did. Destined to be mine, I say! Alright enough about the dress. I want to thank you all for leaving me your comments on yesterday's post. You don't even know how nervous I was when I pressed that "publish post" button. But reading, (and re-reading) your comments really made me feel...

It's Raining?

Image
I have alot to say about this outfit today so please, just bear with me... I'm quite surprised at how these pictures turned out considering it was raining a little when I was snapping away. I came out geared with my camera wrapped in a plastic bag with only the lens visible. I thought they'd be all grey or gloomy. Oh how we bloggers sacrifice... First of all, I am not going to take credit for this outfit. While browsing through an old (ish) People magazine yesterday I saw a picture of the most adorable Carey Mulligan and beau Shia and she was dressed just like this. She even had a headband on. I thought to myself, wow, she looks so comfty! I was jealous and wanted to recreate the look asap. So that's where this outfit was created.                                            ...

What's new with you?

Image
I know these past few weeks I've been talking about nothing else than how busy I've been. I think it's mostly because I've never ever been this busy in my life. I've always managed to have enough "me" time scheduled in order to keep me sane. I think when we hit 2010, all of that changed. It has been good in a way but I still need to come to a balance of work and down time. But now I feel a little sigh of relief since I've accomplished a few things over the weekend and can start feeling a little normal. I've updated my Etsy with a bunch of new things. A turban style headband! I wanted something that would replicate the look of a turban without actually being one. I came up with this super wide nubbly knit headband in three different colors. They're super comfty and warm, and might I add stylish? You can pick one up here . Amigurumi animals I've posted three different animals. A monkey, an elephant and an owl. All three are keeping within th...

mish·mash (mshmsh, -mäsh) n. A collection or mixture of unrelated things; a hodgepodge First off, I just want to day hi to all of my new readers that have joined me in the past couple of days. I'm sure you've probably found my blog with the news of The Delightful Dozen project that's been circulating on the other member's blogs. I'll be posting my introduction to this very soon, so if you have no idea what I'm talking about just sit tight as it'll all make sense in the next couple of days. Second, can I just say how happy I am that it's Friday? This week has been a busy one for me all around, with work, blogs, knitting, chictopia10 planning..etc.. This weekend will probably entail alot of knitting for me as well as restoring some order in my apartment. Honestly, I've been too concerned with getting so much stuff done that dishes have started piling up. Oh how I hate doing the dishes!!! I really do. This is my casual Friday outfit. Well, casual Friday...

Casually Floral

I didn't post yesterday because my outfit was highly weather inapropriate. I'm not sure what I was thinking, I must've been pretty tired because I looked like I was ready for Spring, Summer even. I'm back today and although I'm not liking ANYTHING in my wardrobe these days, I managed to get dressed and look decent. I'm planning on adding a whole bunch of items on shop idee's closet by the end of the week.  I'm just needing to unload alot of clothing as I'm feeling weighted down by all of the stuff I've accumulated recently. So be sure to check back, (i'll make sure I mention when things go up) because they're all going to be pretty cheap. I'd even accept offers at this point. If you see anything there right now, please don't hesitate to send me an email and name your price. These braids weren't intentional. I braided my hair last night to get some waves going this morning and well, I decided I'd just keep them in. Outfit...

Blue Moon

As I stated in my hair post, today was a day off (Martin Luther king day). I wanted to take this day to actually dress down. What a funny concept it is to make an effort to wear jeans. I think we're a rare breed us ladies that love to dress up. At the same time this is what I love about the blogosphere, I know i'm not alone and alot of you that visit my blog is because you feel exactly the same. I love you gals. That said, I wore jeans to tone down the updo that I had going on. You understand right? So there's nothing better to pair with jeans than a lovely blouse and some vintage boots. Fool proof actually.
