Remix: Vintage Floral Dress

Image
As much as I love going through my closet, deciding what to keep, what to donate..etc. I sometimes come across that one item that I've had forever {in my case, a few years} that I just can't part with. Since I've been blogging for a little while now, I've accumulated numerous outfits with these items worn in many ways. I decided what better way to show a remix, than to put all of them together in one post. For my first item, I'm remixing a very special Vintage floral dress. To the eye this just looks like another dress, but this particular one was bought on my very first weekend living in Brooklyn. I remember walking around my new neighborhood and stumbling across a little flea market. I spotted this dress and knew that it would fit, I didn't even try it on. I wish I had taken a "before" picture since I had to hem it quite a few inches and it had long sleeves. And now, here are the various ways I've worn it through the years: {On its own on a hot ...

{The Proof} It's been just over a month since I decided to share with the world {readers} my resolution to not buy anything new in 2011. As promised, I told you that I'd update you with my thoughts, observations, and maybe even frustrations that I encounter along the way. I've been too busy to shop. This is a good thing since the temptation hasn't even been there! Well, once when I found myself in Urban Outfitters but I stayed strong. I still have so many articles of clothing that I have not yet worn! This dress is proof! I received this dress as a gift from this lady back in September { I think } and this is the first time I wear it, 4 months later. Please don't judge me. My closet { or non closet } space is still overloaded with stuff that it simply cannot hold anything more. I've been meaning to go through it and purge about 30% or more of it really soon. I find it hard going on twitter as every  4th or 5th tweet is someone tweeting about a new shoe/purse/de...

I've been on a hemming kick lately, mainly because I found myself with alot of longer length dresses and no desire to wear them that length. I thought I could do it but at the end of the day I just feel like a big ol' frump.  So instead, i've done a complete 180 and decided to go short AND wear heels. The ultimate combo into fooling people that you're taller/leaner than you actually are. Why haven't I been doing this sooner? Anywho, a few things to mention with this outfit. This ring was a gift from Spotted Moth . I personally think that every blogger needs one. It's just too cute and I feel like every blogger has a special relationship with their camera, or is that just me? Second, these boots! They're called " Romance " and I know why, I'm already in love with them. The fit is great and the heel is actually something that I can walk in. And in New York, that's saying alot. I think you'll be seeing these quite alot this fall. * Oh and...

If this dress looks familiar, it's because it's currently making its way across the U.S. with the D12 ladies. So far you've seen Starr ( A thought is the Blossom ) and Maria ( Lulu Letty ) style it up and next it's going to Julie ( Orchid grey )! So it's been about a week since I talked about getting my butt in gear and so far it's been pretty good. I thought i'd be more productive over the weekend but all I did was sleep ( 24 hours!) So when Sunday night crawled around I made sure to make up for some very lost productivity time. I cleaned my apartment, and switched over all of my Summer clothes to Fall, took pictures for my blog shop , and started posting. I've still been going to the gym, but not on weekends since my gym is closed and I even started knitting again, to ( hopefully) re-open my etsy shop. Let's see if I can get everything done by the end of October. That's my goal right now, plus there's something calming about knitting so I t...

hi hi! I've been so busy these days and I know I always say that but it's the truth! The weekend has come and gone, I met up with my long lost friends, had a great time at the swap, then got some more color done on my tattoo! now it's mid-week and I'm already looking forward to the weekend! yikes. On top of all of that, my sister has been going into false labor since Monday and i've been getting the updates via my dad. She's not sue until Sunday but I have a feeling that i'll be an auntie very very soon! (maybe even by the time that you read this!) So right now, i'm dead tired so i'll leave you with a little remix of how i've worn these items in the past. Outfit: dress}vintage cardigan}Zara Shoes}Winner's belt}vintage via Value Village

I'm in serious need of a wardrobe overhaul, or a good closet clean-up! The latter seems a little more realisitic. I'll be a busy lady this weekend but I'll try to get it all done by Sunday, including a hair post, as well as my Five Questions Friday post later today. Saturday night I'm meeting up with the ladies behind Crowded-Closet  (yeah!!), and Sunday will be my third attempt at The Moma (at which if I still do not make, i will stop mentioning it,seriously). Today i'm looking a little preppy, yes? This is actually a dress paired with a sweater (not a skirt). It's sleeveless and therefore not January appropriate. I doubled up on tights as well, because these green ones (yes, they're green) aren't opaque enough on their own. I just wore a pair of solid black tights underneath. And my shhhooeesss! Aren't they darling? I got them this week at one of my fave shoe places around the corner from where I work (50% off)!!! Oh and I can't forget this lit...
