Une robe recyclable

Image
{A recyclable dress} Ok, first of all you might think I'm weird with this statement but I just want to say I'm a big fan of the "looking down at my shoes" shot. I'm not sure why but I think it makes me look thinner. It's funny right? The things that bloggers come up with. I mean there are a whole slew of poses that bloggers have adopted, even the hand on the hip is one of them , but the looking down just might be my fave. I give you permission to think I'm weird now. Well, it's finally freezing in NYC and you know what? I've realized that I have no winter weather appropriate dresses. I've been wearing a lot of jeans and sweaters lately because of it. Not one of my best looks but whatever it kept me warm. So today I figured i needed to work with what i've got. This dress you'll recognize from my Halloween post. Yup, reduse, reuse, recycle people. I threw on a cardigan, this one being the "new boyfriend" cardigan which I have t...

C'est L'Hallowe'en, hey!

Image
Just a few pictures from my Saturday night halloween festivities. We made our way to various Williamsburg bars, ending up in Greenpoint. The night was pretty tame and I don't know if I saw any costumes that really blew my mind. Here's my Wednesday Addams costume, which sort of passed as the girl from the ring too. Nickie made this skirt for her Fashion school project. Good thing she held on to it! And of course, the night wouldn't be complete with a bear and hunter combo. Nickie and NickiSixx, oh my!

Moutarde

I wish I would've taken a picture of this cardigan when i first wore it. I got it up in Ottawa and it was originally intended to be a oversize comfy cardigan kind of look. Well, I threw it in the wash along with some of my other VV purchases and it shrunk down to my size ( thankfully, no smaller). Weird right? I've been on the hunt for oversize baggyness of pretty much anything these days, cardigans, sweater's, scarves (ok, they can't be baggy but oversize yes). I guess I just want to be able to wrap myself up in a blanket and step out the door! (no, I don't want a snuggie, thanks). Anyways, I've been scrambling to put together a Halloween costume and think i'm just going to go for a Wednesday Addams look. Not very original but easy, yes. Halloween is always such a big thing here in NY that if you show up anywhere without a costume, well, you can just forget about showing up. Anyone have a good costume lined up? Shake the Glitter of your clothes

Image
You gotta help me out It's all a blur last night We need a taxi 'cause your hung over and I'm broke You wanna cash out And get the hell outta town Don't be a baby Remember what you told me Shut up and put your money where your mouth is That's what you get for waking up in Vegas Atlantic city Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now That's what you get for waking up in Vegas Atlantic city * Just for the record I had to google the lyrics of the song. I don't even think I'd know it if it played . So there you have it, I was Katy Perry in the costume that she wore on the Today's show. I thought it was only suiting for the occasion. Even though most of the AC crowd didn't know who I was (they didn't even know who Lady Gaga was) they thought I was trying to be a craps table. I just went with it. First things first

Image
Ackk, my computer is running at a snails pace right now and editing my pictures through picnik seems like waiting for christmas. Since I'm dying to show you some pictures of my Halloween weekend I'll start by posting my outfit from Friday night. I decided to attend a party that Chris & his roomate were throwing at the very last minute. As I was still at work I ran around our showroom looking for something to wear as I did not want to wear my AC costume two days in a row. I found this orange (its more of a coral but lets not get technical) dress and just went with it. I paired it with brown boots & tights and made a green headband from a t-shirt. The outcome/ A pumpkin (duh). O.k, its not the most original but like I said, all of my efforts went into Saturday nights costume, which I will post tomorrow! Nude tights

Image
For the record, i'm not wearing plain nude tights, they're actually printed but I couldn't pick up the print with my camera. After trying on 3 different outfits this morning I decided to keep it simple with this drapey jersey dress. The perfect friday lazy dress if you ask me. * I was also hoping that it wouldn't pick up the wrinkledness of the dress but looks like I was unlucky this morning. These are the tights I picked up in both black and nude! I'm heading out to a Haunted Walk tonight, 2 of them actually. I'm looking forward to it as this will be my first experience with these "paranormal" tours. Apparently New York is America's most haunted city so this is a perfect time to take advantage of  it, especially so close to Halloween! I'm going to try and take as many pictures as I can so I'll let you know how it goes! Check out the link if you're interested and would like to know more! Tiny Moons

Image
I was inspired by yesterday's vintage shopping trip when I was creating today's outfit. It's all either thrifted or vintage and I  think if I would add it all up, the whole thing would be around $40! The skirt I bought yesterday as well as the boots; the top was one of my Vancouver Value Village finds and the belt, well, that's been in my closet forever, I might've snatched it up at Beacon's Closet a while ago. I wanted to make sure to take a close-up pic of the skirt as it has these tiny little multi-colored moons as the print! How adorable is that?! I know some of you are wondering what my Halloween costume is (see previous post) but I'm not telling!! In fact, i'm thinking up how I can turn this into some little contest. So just bear with me for a little bit longer and I will surely let you know when I've decided how to go about this. I still have alot of sewing to do and searching for a few more items to complete the outfit, but that is why I sta...
