Prête pour la tempête

Image
{Ready for the storm} These pictures are brought to you courtesy of my dad! I asked to use his camera this morning... and his photography skills to take my outfit pictures. I'm sort of running out of things to wear as I'm heading back home tomorrow (if all is restored at the airports) so I improvised with this outfit. I got this sweater at Value Village the other day and this is already the second time I wear it. I like the fact that it's oversized and it's handmade. The handmade part kind of makes me sad because someone must have put a lot of effort into making it, only for it to find it's way in a donation pile. Well, I just wish I could tell whomever that made it, that it's great! My sister bought me these boots in our secret santa exchange, so I'm definitely ready for the New York snowy temps. It's kind of nice to wear weather appropriate footwear for a change. I'm hoping that the trend catches on because i'll be wearing these puppies pretty ...

Mon petit coeur

{My Little Heart} Sorry for my blogging absence but I had to scramble and get everything packed on Friday and try and figure out how to move up my flight home from Wednesday to Saturday all the while, making sure that I had all of my Christmas shopping done. I flew to Ottawa on Saturday, then had to drive 5 hours to where my extended family live, and then drove back on Monday night! Phewww, I'm exhausted! Today I managed to coerce my sister to take some outfit pictures while Quinn was resting with Grandma, or Mamie is what she'd rather be called. I picked up this dress the day before leaving, as H&M is having  crazy good sale right now! I just couldn't resist even though I promise myself not to buy anything for me during the Holidays. But this dress was $10. Really! I think I'm going to go through with my "Buy Nothing New" challenge in the New year. I'll elaborate on all of my rules in another post closer to the year end but it'll basically involve...

Un Samedi au Marché

I've been in Ottawa for a few days now and am loving every minute of it. I've been spending time with my sister and Quinn, had dinner over at my brother's house last night, and even got to see some special friends. Yup, it's been a very busy few days! Saturday we (tried) to get an early start and make our way to the Glebe Community Centre for the Fabric Flea Market. We bundled up Quinn, picked up my sis-in-law and were on our way. The place was packed! So many little ladies stocking up on fabrics, notions and buttons! Who knew? So we couldn't stay long as it wasn't really condusive to strollers but I was able to take a few pictures before leaving. So now, Quinn is calling (um, yelping) for me as momma is currently napping on the couch. Gottta go! Tonight is probably take-out Indian food and a movie. Hope you're all having a great weekend! Un peu trop chaud

Hi guys! I'm back from my little Canda trip. I'm trying to recap my weekend in my head before writting this down and it seems impossible. For starters things were all over the place with family members staying in every spare room we could find. My aunt, who is still in the hospital is doing so much better so thank you all for your warm wishes and thoughts. Friday was my friend's wedding which was small and intimate but so beautiful. It also involved way too much crying! For goodness sakes, everytime she'd come up to us and we'd start talking all of us would just burst into tears! I'm so happy for her!! Then I finally got to see Quinn, the new (little) man in the family and boy oh boy is he ever cute!! I tried my best at auntie duties, even tried diaper duties but failed miserably as he's just a big ball of squirmyness. Things kind of slowed down towards Sunday and Monday and I flew back Tuesday afternoon. This outfit might be a little premature for Fall as i...

Mon amie Sue

Image
As I mentioned earlier, I'm attending a wedding today of a very dear friend. You see, I met Sue way back when I had just moved to Vancouver in 2001. I was there, living with my boyfriend at the time and she was just moving to the city from Ottawa as well. Her boyfriend knew mine and since they didn't have a place yet, they stayed with us, in a studio, meant for one. person. yup. So there I was in tight living quarters with this girl I had never met, her boyfriend I barely knew and mine for about 2 weeks time. During that time we got to know each other pretty well, how could we not? and I liked her. so it was no big deal. well, funny enough our other friends in the building were moving out so she ended up moving in right upstairs! Kind of like a "Friends" situation. How perfect. We'd show up at each other's door, mine to come in and watch tv, and hers to have a glass of wine. Walk down to the beach to catch the sunsets with a bunch of our friends, more Ottawa t...

Ma fin de semaine

Not quite an outfit post but I wanted to show you guys what I was doing all weekend that pulled me away from blogging. Hanging out in my parent's backyard, trying to get some sun on my pasty whiteness, and reading East of Eden, which is my April book of choice. I just got home and decided to make some food before going to bed. I had a very long day at the airport since my 3pm flight was delayed, then cancelled, so I got bumped to the 7pm flight. The only thing that was going for me is that I've been flying with Porter airlines  and they have these lounges that offer free internet, drinks, and snacks. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Anyways, time for bed! Outfit: Shorts}Value Village Blouse}Value Village Sunglasses}Target

Encore une fois

If I look short in these pictures, that's because I am. I'm usually careful to place my tripod and angle my camera a certain way to make myself not look as short as I really am (5'2"). But as I wasn't feeling to well this morning, I just wanted to get it over with. I really hope that I'm not getting sick as I'm to be on a plane tomorrow afternoon, on my way to visit my family for the Easter weekend. So you can expect a few post interruptions from Thursday to Monday as I really don't know how much time I'll have to blog. Actually, the truth is, I'm not really sure I'll have any blogworthy outfits! Everytime I go home I tend to not pack a full suitcase but only bring with me a very small carry-on. If you knew the trek I had to make to get to the airport, you'd understand. I'm planning on only bringing with me a couple of dresses and I know I have one dress waiting for me in the guest room closet from my last Value Village trip over the...

The cat, the blogger and the tripod.

See what I was trying to reference with today's title? The lion, the witch and the wardrobe anyone?? I had a little audience for today's photoshoot. Its not the first time I discover this little kitty in my yard. I think he belongs to the nieighbors but I guess I'm just that much more entertaining. Not much to blog about today, I'm really looking forward to my Ottawa trip on Wednesday. Did I also mention that I'll be in Vancouver next Monday? That's right 2 Canada trips within the span of 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to both actually. I think its just this time a year when I get a little antsy and need a change of scenery. This time last year I was on my way to Paris! O.k, I know Ottawa is NOT Paris. As for my outfit; what do we have here? another kensie dress?? surprise surprise. You know I think this sudden surge of kensie clothing infiltrating my wadrobe is due to the fact that I'm cutting back on shopping and am trying to find stuff I already own and...

Get through this

Is anyone else getting excited for the holidays? I mean, I'm not even a US citizen, yet I'm so anxious for Thanksgiving! Maybe its due to the fact that I missed out on the Canadian Thanksgiving back in October and will be going up to Ottawa (Ontario) to visit my family next week. It'll be especially nice since there's no set obligation to do anything while i'm there! I'll catch up with my parents, hang out with my siblings (brother, sister, sister-in law, and soon to be brother-in-law!), and definitely hit up a few thrift stores i.e.Value Village. Sounds like an awesome holiday if you ask me. Now I just have to make it through the rest of this week, start packing early next week and make sure that I have blogging worthy outfits while i'm away. You didn't think I'd stop blogging did ya? Oh and I completely forgot to let you know what I thought about Precious, (see Sunday's post). To tell you the truth, as touchi...
