{The Proof} It's been just over a month since I decided to share with the world {readers} my resolution to not buy anything new in 2011. As promised, I told you that I'd update you with my thoughts, observations, and maybe even frustrations that I encounter along the way. I've been too busy to shop. This is a good thing since the temptation hasn't even been there! Well, once when I found myself in Urban Outfitters but I stayed strong. I still have so many articles of clothing that I have not yet worn! This dress is proof! I received this dress as a gift from this lady back in September { I think } and this is the first time I wear it, 4 months later. Please don't judge me. My closet { or non closet } space is still overloaded with stuff that it simply cannot hold anything more. I've been meaning to go through it and purge about 30% or more of it really soon. I find it hard going on twitter as every  4th or 5th tweet is someone tweeting about a new shoe/purse/de...

Première fois cette année

Image
{First of the Year} Well you guys, this is my first official remix of the year! I decided to rummage through some drawers to see what I hadn't worn in a while and voila, there is was, the sweet sweater vest I got last winter. Sometimes, deciding on an outfit the night before doesn't work out so well for me. You see, whatever super cool (re: complicated) outfit I might think I want to wear the night before is the complete opposite of the actual outfit I feel like wearing the morning of. But I knew that this one would be great...since it involved jeans. What I also had time to do the night before? Trim my fringe! Yes, finally it has been bugging me forever so I took the time to pin my hair back, straighten out the bangs, and then start cutting. I cut them a little shorter than usual so you can actually see my eyebrows. In fact, that's the first thing my co-worker said to me this morning. So naturally, I had to pay some special attention to the brows as well with a little tw...

Nouvelle résolution

Image
{New Resolution} With all of this dreary weather I thought I'd lighten things up with some pastel colors. I've worn this dress before but didn't get the chance to take any pictures but it definitely deserves a few pics. I've been loving mixing girly dresses with black tights & boots. Just the perfect mix of edgy and pretty. Well, since we're already in the New Year, I've decided to go through with my "No New Clothing" in 2011. It basically means that I will not buy any clothing that are new which includes shoes, and jewelry. The only new items I will be acquiring (in order for me to keep my sanity) is going to be selling clothing through Beacon's Closet or Buffalo Exchange and keeping my Blog Shop updated so I can then take the money and put it back in some second hand items from places like Etsy, or even blog shops. We'll see how everything goes but I'm pretty sure it's totally doable. The only exception I see that I will need to b...

Livres lus: Septembre

Image
September brought on a few good reads, mostly because I managed to take a trip up to my parent's house where books float through the hands of my Dad, Mom, Sister to Sis-in-law, then me. It might also be the fact that during these trips, I'm travelling for at least a few hours each way and take the opportunity to read instead of listening to music. Wait, maybe people do both, listen to music while reading? Hmm, I don't think I could manage that as I get way into both (seperately). K, I don't know where this is going so let's just get on with what I've read this month: Shanghai Girls by Lisa See: This book did to me as Memoirs of a Geisha did, kind of depressed me but I wanted to keep reading. The difference is that this time I was ready for it. When I read Memoirs, I had to put it down as it brought on such a strong emotion that I didn't quite like. Like I said, I REALLY get into books. This time, I read the story of the two sisters that were once named ...

Aidez-moi

Let's just face it, I love awkward length dresses and skirts. Here's another one that I just couldn't resist on my recent trip to Value Village. So I like the fact that the general conscensus is that we all need to buckle down and get life in order now that Fall has arrived. Someone asked me how I find motivation to get to gym and the answer is simple, when most of my clothing just doesn't fit right anymore and leaves me uncomfortable halfway through my day, I know it's time. You know the feeling?   I also liked a few of your ideas:  Making more meals at home  Only going out to eat once/week  Keeping a regular eating schedule Finding time for the gym ( i try to go 4 times/week ) Organizing your home work space keeping a daily/weekly list of tasks ( it feels sooo good to cross them off!) If you have any more ideas, please teach me the ways! I'm open to any suggestions and will most definitely post them on here for anyone else feeling the Fall changes. Outfit...

Livres lus: Août

Another month, another bookl. August was a slow month for reading. I think I was out and about enjoying the last month of summer a little too much to care to beat my 1 book a month goal. I finished  Valley of the Dolls  very early and it was so worth it. I had read it years ago when I was just a little bright eyed early twenty-something girl. I had just moved to Vancouver and my friend leant it to me. Well, I really didn't get too much into it the first time but I thought I'd give it another go when again, another friend leant it to me (must be fate or somethin'). After all it is a cult classic. I'm happy I did because living in New York and rearing about it's younger years when Broadway was booming and tv/movies were just being introduced as new media really is so cool (even if it is fiction). I think any girl can appreciate this one. Here's the story (taken from wikipedia as it's way to late for me to come up with this): The novel begins in New York, 1945,...

My Resolutions update

Image
My outfit this morning was really just put together at the very last minute. I chose to sleep in instead of caring about what I was wearing. I didn't even take my outfit pictures in the morning but then, since I was home before sun down, decided to take a few shots. My tights keep ripping on their own everytime I basically move but since I can't find them anywhere anymore I will still wear them and embrace this ripped tights trend. So remember in January when I laid out my New Year Resolutions ? Well, I'm kind of proud to say that I've been keeping them up! A quick recap: 1. Go to the gym, although this past week has been crazy, I did have a crazy gym 5 days a week stint  last month thanks to a super secret collaboration that I can only reveal to you next month. Trust me, once I tell you, you'll know why I went hard on the treadmill.I do plan to start up again when things calm down at work. 2. Visit more NYC attractions. Well I went to the Guggenheim two weekend...

A Step Inside

Image
Well, it finally happened. I've been defeated by this nasty weather we've been having. I woke up to snowflakes as big as fists and puddles that would swallow my shoe. Mother Nature 1: Blogger 0.                         You could say that this is the most weather innapropriate outfit I've ever worn. But you know when you have a plan to wear something and then nothing else will do? That's what happened to me this morning. I wanted to wear this outfit on Wednesday but couldn't find my slip to wear under it, so I grabbed a repeat dress instead. So last night when I came home I searched high and low through piles of clothing and finally found it. After that I was determined to wear this Spring forward outfit, there was no question. I actually already have a dozen ideas on how to wear this dress when the weather gets warmer, just a warning. Remember when I was talking about my resolut...

Grey Resolutions

Image
I'm really liking shades of grey these days. Maybe it's due to the weather? maybe because I have a ton of it in my closet. Anywho, today's outfit needed a little somethin' special so I dug out this crazy beaded bib necklace that i got over the summer at a Charlotte Russe launch. You can read all about it here.  (And yes, that's one more outfit with the red skirt from yesterday's post) I have been lacking on commenting on all of your blogs, chictopia, twitter, etc... I find that I've been running out of time to do everything in one day AND get to bed at a reasonable time. I do have a day job to get to. I will put aside some time to get to it. You lovelies give me my dose of inspiration. Last night I decided what my new years resolutions were going to be. I didn't actually seek out to make resolutions, they just sort of came to me when I thought of things that I wanted to accomplish/change this year. So here they are: 1. Visit 1 museum a week. Friday I...
