I'm not too sure what's going with the weather but I want to wear only Fall stuff so that's just want I'm going to do. I've already gotten into the habit of layering and well, I love wearing tights so call me crazy but I can't help myself even in 80 degree weather.  It's finally Friday and I have a slew of things to scratch off my list. They're not all that interesting: laundry, blog stuff, putting away summer clothes, taking out Fall, make some soups (yum), etc... but I'm happy that it's the weekend and time to relax, maybe even catch a movie. A typical Sunday outfit for me. Well, switch up the jeans for leggings if I'm not leaving the house and it's alot more accurate. As I mentioned yesterday, I spent Sunday just doing things around the apartment, sewing, knitting, posting things on etsy . I met up briefly with Nickie to get some stuff that I had left at her place from last weekend's photo shoot and that's about it. Oh and I made the most delicious Banana oat bran muffins. Productive? I'd say so. I received this scarf from Modcloth last week and I think it's my new favorite. The colors go with practically everything I own, given that most of my clothes have some sort of green or grey. So expect to see it popping up in a few posts, especially with this crazy weather we're having. Looking at my wardrobe I think its obvious that I tend to go for fitted tops, cropped jackets, and skinny pants. One of the perks of this collaboration with Dusty Rose Vintage was to be able to go for some non-idee_geniale items and try my hand at styling them up. That's exactly why I went with these two pieces. The first, is this oversized,dolman sleeved sweater. Of course it's the gold bow detail that got me as I usually stay away from anything that hugs my..umm...lower half. This one, I couldn't resist. (featured item: 80's knit dress w/gold bow applique  ) The other oversize item was a super thick (= warm) ivory cardigan. I imagined myself living in the country and throwing this on over my pj's to run out to get the mail at then end of the driveway but alas, I live in Brooklyn, don't have a driveway and could not get away with this look. It might be better over a pair of skinny jeans, a simple white blouse and some high brown boots, yes definitely more city...

I took these pictures outdoors first thing this morning as I couldn't resist the lovely background! I was pretty chilly without my coat on, so don't be fooled, I DID wear a jacket on top of this. Only when I got back to the hotel did I realize that my cardigan was longer than my coat and was hanging out the back. Here I was thinking that everything was in place! Arggg, I hate it when that happens. I decided to do the monochrome look today. My tights are a opaque grey and I paired them with my grey boots and cardigan. I feel like with the punch of blue everything looked quite right together. For a little flair I clipped in my "reading" glasses clip, which was a hit at the office...or so I think. I'm excited to show you all this lovely cardigan that I bought used my credit over at Beacon's over the weekend. It's exactly what I've been looking for in terms of pastels and embellishments. It's absolutely beautiful and so soft and cuddly! It's made in Scotland exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue and is of 100% pure cashmere. Hence the super softness! It's no surprise that I kept the color pallette Ivory and Black as I've mentioned before this is one of my favorite combinations. The best part is the pearls and beads placed on the shoulders. I'm sure you've seen newer versions of this done at H&M and Topshop right now. After a very busy week, I finally caught up on some sleep and woke up refreshed and ready for Friday. I even had time to take two sets of pictures, have breakfast and coffee, and still manage to get to work on time.Don't let these pictures deceive you, even though the sun was shining it was cold and windy for my little morning photoshoot. I decided to wear this drop waist tweed dress that I picked up a few months ago at Beacon's Closet in park Slope. It was brand new with tags for $10. How could I not? That is why I love Beacon's, they don't overprice their items no matter how new or what brand they might be. The dress itself is a little more "preppy" than my usual so I played it up with my navy tights and brown booties. The cardigan was necessary since the dress is sleveless. Since I was heading out to Chris' last night, my outfit choice had to be simple and fit all in one bag. Also in there was my camera and usual gear of a magazine for train reading, an umbrella for nyc's unpredictable weather, two knitting projects currently working on, makeup case, dry shampoo in travel size. I try to carry the least possible amount of stuff with me, for two reasons actually, one is that the trains are usually overcrowded and there's barely room for bodies let alone scary big purses, and second (and you can laugh at me here if you want) I think it's bad for my already poor posture to be carrying a heavy load. So what I end up doing is pairing down to the essentials and wearing just a small over the shoulder purse. My dress of choice today is made out of french terry. This is another one where I cut the bottom off and left a raw edge. I think it has something to do with my height (or lack of) that makes me want to wear shorter dresses and ski...

I slept in this morning. Like, really slept in. I got up after my radio alarm had been going off for about 45 minutes. This has been happening alot lately. So in order to get myself to work on time I have to take serious measures. One of the things that I've started doing is making up an outfit in my mind so that when I do finally get my butt out of bed I can reach for said pieces and get going. This morning I wanted to be comfortable, well, looking at the pictures I would say that I'm stating the obvious. For my little spin on it, I doubled up on my scarves. One printed, one solid, together I feel like they make this otherwise plain outfit stand out. Too bad the heat in our office is cranked and I'm down one scarf and no cardigan. I feel like each one of these pictures focuses on different parts of my wardrobe: 1/ scarves, 2/booties, 3/hair bun. I didn't plan it out like that but it sort of works. I always run into this problem in the fall/winter and I'd like to know if anyone else has this similar issue. See, I have alot of long cardigans that I love layering my outfits with, but once I'm out the door I tend to have a shorter jacket and that leaves my cardigan hanging out the bottom. Perfect example today, I have this super cute bunny cardigan from kensiegirl (yes, those are bunnies!) but then as soon as I put on my jacket, I felt it looked a little funny having it so much longer. My solution was to take the cardigan off, stuff it in my bag, then wear my jacket and change at work. Kind of a pain, but what else can I do? The weather isn't cold enough yet to break out the longer coats. So this explains to two sets of pictures taken this morning. The first with my cardigan, then the second with my jacket sans cardigan.
