Jambes Rouillées

{Rusty legs} This is how comfortable one can look when some man is standing right across the street just looking at you taking your pictures. I do admit, to the non-blogging world, this may all seem a little bazarro, but come on, why would you stop whatever it is you're up to just to make someone feel uncomfortable. It think he kind of ruined it for me and my tripod outings. These are the mornings that I'm missing my peaceful backyard. I'm really looking forward to this weekend and can't believe that tomorrow is Friday! I scheduled my much needed hair appointment on Saturday and the salon is just a few blocks away from Central Park, pretty convenient huh? Let's just hope that the weather continues to warm up like it's been trying to do all week. I leave you with a little remix from how I've worn these items before: Outfit: dress}vintage tights}c/o welovecolors heels}c/o modcloth belt}thrifted

Bonjour Lundi

{Hello Monday} Of course, my mind is a blank right now and I don't have much to write. I'm going to be enjoying the day I have off by scavenging for boxes and hopefully start packing up for my move. Coffee is ready and I just saw that there was snow on the ground. Yup, looks like I 'm staying in today. Anybody care to join me? Come on, it'll be fun, I swear! Ok, I know packing and moving always sucks. I'm trying to not freak out about not having anything done yet, but i'm reassuring myself with the fact that my place is tiny, therefore, not much to pack up. I'll let you know how I do with that. Jambes d'Aubergines

It's almost Halloween and I have yet to finalize my plans. There's so much going on that it's a little overwhelming to start thinking of where to go. All I know is that I'm meeting a group of friends at their house in order to get ready and get all costumed up. Should be a fun night! I'll make sure to post pictures of the night too. This is what I wore on Thursday. Just a little mix of girly and edgy. At least, that was what I was going for. The dress was one of my hemming projects. This time I made sure to not cut it too short! I've got the hemming thing down to a science now and it didn't take me very long to do this one. Well, it might not be perfect but I'm still working on my skills. Looks like the people ( you ) have spoken and two thumbs up for the new blog layout!!! Thank you so much guys or ladies as I don't think many guys read this here blog (if you do, are you cute? and single? haha, kidding, maybe ). I'm not going to lie, I really love this new layout too. It's really refreshing having a place for everything. I think it might be the virgo in me, but I'm kind of OCD when it comes to storage and organization. My mom told me that when I was younger I'd have all these little boxes hidden away and if someone would ask me what they were I'd say that they were my "boites à trésors", which translates into treasure boxes. I'd have trinkets, marbles, birthday cards or anything really. As long as I had a box to store it in, I'd keep it. I'm kind of still like that now at home, I have bins/chests/baskets for my knitting supplies, linens, crafts etc... It's definitely a good thing now that I live in a tiny space. I can...

If you've followed this blog long enough, you'll know that i love playing around with colored tights. I think they just add that little finishing element to any outfit. You can either playit safe by sticking to neutrals or go all out crazy with wild colors. Your pick. When I heard about the Florida based company, Welovecolors,  I was litterally in awe at how many colors one can offer in a solid opaque tight (50 to be exact). My first pair of theirs was the nylon/lycra microfiber tight and I could tell just by the touch that these were going to be comfy. Not only are they super soft but these are truly opaque which means no need to double up (yes, wearing two pairs at once).  Now you know that I'm not one to promote or advertise something that I don't 100% believe in but I'm just sayin' that if you're in the market for a few good pairs of tights this fall, all you need to do is click here . {Welovecolors is a sponsor of Idée Géniale}

As I lay here in bed writting this, with my laptop propped up on my knees, I'm just praying for all of it to make sense. You see, it's currently 1:05am and I'm scheduling this post for Friday morning. Overly tired, and um... one too many glasses (ok bottles) of wine later I really wanted this to be posted for Friday but didn't think I'd have the time to actually sit down and write  any of it at the time. I currently have a friend/coworker in town from Vancouver so I've been a little preoccupied these past two days but I'm definitely not complaining. I love having a guest over and showing them around,especally showing them all of the non- uber touristy things but the real, this is where people actually hang out places on NYC. Back to this post. If this dress looks familiar, you've probably been browsing through the modcloth site. Busted! Oh wait, that's just if you're anything like me and take a gander at their New Arrivals during the day while I...

Sailing to greener pastures

Naturally when I received this top the other day, I wanted to pair it with my red skirt. Man, I wanted to wear it so bad, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Maybe save it for July 4th? Yeah, that's a better idea. So I went with some neutrals and played it up with some mint green tights, because I really could've worn my red ones here too!!haha, see what I'm trying to do here??NOT look like a sailor. I've been wearing my hair like this alot these days, purely out of lazyness. I'm working on getting a tutorial up, including my "tips" on the perfect top knot, so hopefully you too can enjoy a few extra minutes of sleeping in and throw your hair up in a messy bun just like this! This weekend is going to be great! Warm weather, the brooklyn flea market with Nickie, going through my spring clothes to hopefully update my blog shop and some knitting is all in the works! Color Confidential

Today was your typical Monday for me. I woke up groggy from a deep sleep, got ready, walked up the street only to have forgotten a bag of stuff I had to mail out, rushed back home to get it and so on... I had two coffees, but the second one wasn't good so its kind of still sitting on my desk at work. Gross right? Well, that's o.k. I was so busy getting stuff organized and mailing out some special little packages to some very great readers and friends that I had barely enough time to concentrate on cleaning up my work space. Lets just say I'm happy that tomorrow is Tuesday. I've been hesitant to put bright outfits together in fear of looking too young. Maybe it's the constant meeting of ladies my age in New York, clad in all black attire and sky scraper heels that makes me feel this way or maybe I'm just feeling old? Well today was my attempt at putting together something with color and keeping to my age. (Well, you can just keep on guessing at what exactly that ...

Everyday Glitter

So I received these tights courtesy of We Love Colors over the holidays. It was a nice little package that was waiting for me on my desk after the christmas holiday and before I was off again for new years eve. Given that I had already planned out, very carefully, what I was going to wear for the big night out, I had to put these tights aside for just alittle bit longer. Now that the festivities are over, I thought to myself, could I possibly get away with wearing  lurex glitter tights on a regular day? at work? That is the challenge I gave myself for this first morning back on the job. I guess what is key is to keep everything understated but not go all black as that would definitely have the reverse effect. This black corduroy dress and striped long sleeve tee worked perfect together. The boots and hat made sure to give it a casual look. The tights were definitely a statement, but just the right amount of pop to the outfit. You can tell that they're the type of t...
