Un peu de Vancouver

Image
{A little bit of Vancouver} As you know I'm in Vancouver this week. It's that time of year when Kensie throws their annual Holiday party , which is tonight. I haven't been able to take any outfit pictures while here so I thought I'd share a few favorite pictures that I have saved on my computer of Vancouver. The tree at English Bay. Every year it gets strung with lights and on Christmas/New Years you can catch some carollers gathered around it. This picture was taken a few years ago on New Years day. The Silvia Hotel. This hotel is so beautiful and is located right by Stanley Park.  You can catch a beautiful view of the ocean from their bar/lounge area. The perfect thing to do before heading out for a bike ride around the park. The Vancouver Public Library. The architecture is simply amazing on its own. Silly me in front of the VPL. My friend Kelsea and I (she's going to die when she sees this) in front of the Terry Fox memorial right by BC Place. I hope to get bac...

Mon amie Sue

Image
As I mentioned earlier, I'm attending a wedding today of a very dear friend. You see, I met Sue way back when I had just moved to Vancouver in 2001. I was there, living with my boyfriend at the time and she was just moving to the city from Ottawa as well. Her boyfriend knew mine and since they didn't have a place yet, they stayed with us, in a studio, meant for one. person. yup. So there I was in tight living quarters with this girl I had never met, her boyfriend I barely knew and mine for about 2 weeks time. During that time we got to know each other pretty well, how could we not? and I liked her. so it was no big deal. well, funny enough our other friends in the building were moving out so she ended up moving in right upstairs! Kind of like a "Friends" situation. How perfect. We'd show up at each other's door, mine to come in and watch tv, and hers to have a glass of wine. Walk down to the beach to catch the sunsets with a bunch of our friends, more Ottawa t...

Swap-o-rama is back!

Image
Hey Vancouverites! The Swap-O-Rama- Rama (yes rama x 2) is back! Although I won't be attending this year, for obvious reasons (  I no longer live there ) I urge you to make a stop and see what it's all about. I volunteered a few years ago at one and it was definitely one of the coolest swaps I've seen. Not only can you swap clothing but diy stations are set up so you can either alter, print, sew up, your newly swapped threads! Here are the deats: What? Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a clothing and craft supply swap in which a community explores reuse and creativity through the recycling of used clothing. A series of DIY stations will be on-hand to unleash your creativity including screen printing by Blim (http://www.blim.ca) and sewing stations by Plush On Main (http://www.plushonmain.com). Take as little or as much as you like! All remainders will be donated to local charities. When & Where : Saturday, June 26th, 2010 11:00am to 4:00pm Museum of Vancouver – 1100 Chestnut Street, ...

Crème the menthe

I've been having a really great time here in Vancouver these past few days. Even though the weather has been a little overcast, I'm enjoying the cool breeze and mild temperature without overheating. I feel like it's a whole new way of dressing that I didn't get a chance to do in New York, as we went straight from being cold, to extremely hot. This in between really is nice as it gives you alot more options for tights, jackets, and shoes. Unfortunately, my Toms have not made it through the trip. They were starting to fall apart even before I wore them here and then torrential downpours on Sunday pushed it over the edge. I had to part ways with them on Monday after I realized that a few holes too many and a heel that was coming apart was just pushing it. Now i'm looing at getting a replacement pairs as I really don't feel that I can make it through the summer without my pair of Toms. So this is me, heading out to work. The top is borrowed from a friend/coworker. W...

English Bay

Image
I have to make this really quick as to be able to bring you all up to speed on what I've been up to these past few days. I've been in Vancouver since Friday and catching up with friends over the weekend,  and now busy at work from our Vancouver office, which is where I used to work out of before moving to New York. This means alot of people to see and things to do. This outfit is from Saturday, after meeting up with Hailey, the lovely lady behind The Eyeline , a Vancouver street style blog that I've been following for a while now. She was nice enough to walk down to the beach (English Bay) with me and snap a few pics of my outfit after our super delish breakfast at The Central on Denman. The day tuned into a really sunny one which after hearing about so much rain, I guess was a fluke. I packed a few tights and brought my trusty denim jacket so I think so far, I've been pretty prepared for the crazy Canadian weather. Thanks to everyone that has entered my Low Luv x Erin ...

Les Fleurs fluorescentes

I thought it was about that time to bring out something colorful. You know, à la true Idée Géniale style. This is definitely an outfit that gets me noticed in Manhattan's garment district. It's like they've never seen anything so bright. Oh well. I guess that's why I have this blog. I get to show you guys, people that appreciate fun outfits, my love for all things bright. Since this is my 3rd post in a row that I've been working on tonight(it's currently Wednesday) as I'm trying to schedule them for while I'm away, I don't have that much to say. It's now Saturday and I have a crazy girls night out planned for tonight, these girls are awesome! It's always such a big, fun night when I'm with them so i'm anxious to get it started already! More updates later! Have a great weekend. Outfit: Dress}Urban Outfitters Vest}kensie Shoes}??

It's all a blur

Image
(I apologize for the blurry pictures, only one more day before I return home to my trusty tripod, and regular posts!) I took these pictures outdoors first thing this morning as I couldn't resist the lovely background! I was pretty chilly without my coat on, so don't be fooled, I DID wear a jacket on top of this. Only when I got back to the hotel did I realize that my cardigan was longer than my coat and was hanging out the back. Here I was thinking that everything was in place! Arggg, I hate it when that happens. I decided to do the monochrome look today. My tights are a opaque grey and I paired them with my grey boots and cardigan. I feel like with the punch of blue everything looked quite right together. For a little flair I clipped in my "reading" glasses clip, which was a hit at the office...or so I think. I have tons more Dusty Rose Vintage outfits coming up! And I'm still a little behind on posting on chictopia/weardrobe/flickr but I really hope to get all o...

Live from Vancouver

Image
I've been feeling a little guilty about not posting current outfit shots while I'm traveling. So today I made an effort to ask my coworker who's staying with me to take my picture before heading off to our Vancouver office. You see, I really am traveling and still putting together outfits!! Fo reals!!! Anyways, I'll have to find a better location but for today, this will have to do, bad hotel artwork and all. I'm feeling well rested today and am looking forward to a holiday party tomorrow night (the main reason I'm in Vancouver). Not so much time to see the city but I do feel at home whenever I'm in Vancouver. You see, before I became a Brooklyn girl, I lived here for almost exactly 9 years. You grow very fond of a city in that length of time especially when you're in your twenties and figuring out your life, like I was. Now don't get me wrong NY is great and all and I'm loving every minute of it but since I'm not an American citizen it's...
