I've never been one to follow trends . In fact, that word makes me cringe, just as much as fashionista does. Another word I ever use to describe myself. But what does one vintage loving gal do when Lace becomes   trendy ? I guess you just embrace it don't you? So when High gloss fashion offered to send me these lace shorts , I kind of happily accepted. I'm glad I did since they combine my two loves, shorts+lace.  Of course, I don't think I could ever pull these off sans tights but I already have plenty of outfit ideas to put into the works. Thanks to the long weekend, this week is going by so fast! This weekend is the last one before I head up to Ottawa for my sister's wedding on June 11th. I'll be getting all the last minute things, like a proper strapless bra to wear under my bridesmaid dress, make sure all accessories work well together, practice walking in my tall girl shoes so I don't trip down the aisle. You know, that sort of stuff. That said, I'...

{My Velvet Collar} So I guess you guys aren't a fan of my last post. You can hear the crickets down there but that's ok, I think you'll really like this one. I finally put something together that I really like AND is season appropriate. Wait, um, I'm wearing shorts. I guess it's just something that I like. I realized that I haven't been taking advantage of any shorts lately. Last year, I'm pretty sure I was wearing them year round. So why not now?  I just forgot about them. But they're back. Paring shorts with thick tights, a fuzzy sweater and of course this super cute collar I picked up from Modcloth . How perfect is it that the maroon velvet is the exact same color of the argyle print in the sweater? I think this is a match made in fashion heaven. Pas de dinde pour moi

{No Turkey for Me} I'm going to keep this short as most of you are all with your families enjoying a Thanksgiving full of crazyness, cousins, uncles, aunts, turkey, stuffing, the list goes on. Well, I myself have the pleasure of spending the day with my little NY family of friends. We decided that since most of us are all out of towners (countries for 2 of us) we'd all get together for a potluck style dinner. I'm actually really excited for some reason which is funny because I believe that my first US Thanksgiving was spent getting the heck out of the country and going to Paris for the weekend. Well, this isn't Paris but I think I'm so blessed to be in the company of such wonderful people. Outfit: sweater} kensie shorts}Roxy socks}Target boots} c/o Seychelles

L'année dernière

Alright, since I don't have an outfit post again for you today, I decided to go back into my archives and cheat a little bit. Here's the outfit I wore exactly one year ago today. Is it weird that I can do this? I dunno. Original post I think I pretty much look the same except for my right arm looking a little bare (without the new ink). I've been really slacking with my outfits, just not really feeling inspired to come up with anything. Today I wore jeans and a t-shirt. For reals. I know I don't say this too often but I really do appreciate all of my visitors, here on this lil' ol' blog of mine. Your comments really make me smile and are a part of what keeps me doing this. But I do also know that alot of you are regular lurkers, so I appreciate you too!!! I don't always have the time to check out all of your wonderful blogs ( I barely have the time to post on mine) but every chance I have, I find myself lurking in blogland. So yeah, keep being rad. That...

Lost in Paisley

I'm going through one of those phases where I hate all of my clothes. Sorry, don't tell them I said that. I'm just done with everything I own and am not sure what I want to move on to. This phase can be dangerous for a few reasons: the first being that you have to suffer through my experimenting with different styles while i'm in the process of figuring it out. And second, this will likely cause me to get rid of everything I own which I may or may not regret later on. i dunno. Maybe i'll hold of a little bit before I get into extremes and dump my whole closet at the Salvation Army. Oh boy, wouldn't they have a field day. Not that i'm saying all of my clothes are great, it's just the sheer volume of my wardrobe could probably fill up the whole store. Enough rambling. I decided to make a little remix of how I wore these items in the past (remember when I used to do this regularly?i'm trying to get back into it)          ...

Les années quatre-vingts

Image
I know I mentioned my obssesion with crop tops a while back but did I ever mention how much I love blouses that tie at the waist? I'm pretty sure I had a few of them growing up and wore them to death. Not exactly appropriate for at 10 year old but I like to think I was just a little hip back then, if not, I have my mother to thank for buying such outfits for me. I found this one a while ago thrifting (probably in Canada) but I don't think I ever wore it! See!? This is exactly why I need to get rid of some clothing. I buy stuff then forget about it! Well, this blouse screams 80's so what better item to pair it with than my super 80's high waist gaucho short. On another note, I went for an eye exam today (first one in twenty years) and turns out I actually DO need glasses! haha. I have noticed that my vision isn't as great as it used to be and the Dr. said that I would've noticed this if I drove since I'm nearsighted but since I don't it never...

Pas de titre

{ I actually forgot to write a title last night, and only realized this morning! oops !} Alright, it's already Friday! I can't believe I survived this week. Well, almost. As I write this it's only Thursday night but I'm just thinking of all the things I'm up to this weekend, it's going to be quite packed. Friday afternoon i'm finally getting more outline done on my tattoo. Yes, it's not nearly done and I still have hours of pain to go in order to get my "silly little drawings" completed! I know that everyone has their own opinions about tattoo's and why people get them is all a very personal reason but I don't really get the whole leaving anonymous comments on someone's blog about how they'd be prettier without tattoo's. Really? Is that even necessary? I don't usually voice any strong opinions on here (try to keep it all happy & positive) and I certainly don't shove my tattoos in anyone's face so I just wonde...

Style this: LOFT pleated shorts

Image
I'm slowly getting back into all of these features I started posting. I have a few ideas but they take so long! I'm really trying to keep them updated but please don't hate if I don't keep them up regularly, just a kind comment to say which feature you'd like to see if sufficient. This feature was requested by a lovely reader who purchased a pair of Anne Tarlor LOFT shorts. Unfortunately, not being computer saavy i couldn't figure out how to clip them to Polyvore. You can check them out here: LOFT Pleated short . But for Polyvore sake I was able to find a similar pair for my set. Short possibilities by Ideegeniale featuring Lux bags I'm actually really into shorts lately. It's not a conscious decision but I find myself with an overwhelming amount of dressy, casual, printed, denim...etc.. shorts. So putting this set together was definitely a personal choice as to how I would wear them myself. Things to note: - I like pairing classic, structured pieces w...

Pink Pleats

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I flew back from Vancouver on Friday, loosing 3 hours to the time zone so my whole day was a write off. I got in pretty late after having to take the train and then subway all the way to Brooklyn. Feeling pretty beat and not having any outfit to post, I ended up catching up on alot of blogs that I so dearly missed! Saturday was Nickie and I's friendship anniversary! Yup, one year ago yesterday, Nickie and I met up in Williamsburg, went shopping and then had some drinks until the wee hours. So to commemorate the day we did it all over again! The night turned out to be super fun and I can't wait to read up on her latest Weekend rewind. This is also the one year mark for this blog. Last year at this time I decided i'd do more outfit posts and what not, it's been a crazy one and I'm really grateful for all of you guys and gals that come back everyday to read up on my little ...

Silly Scallops

Image
{I'm going to bounce from French to English titles. It's just too hard to keep coming up with original titles in one language!} This outfit is featuring a couple of things I bought over the weekend. Obviously, my title is referring to the scallops on my cute little moss green purse. I found this little vintage gem at Second Story thrift in Stroudsburg . "Second" story cleverly named  since it's on the top story of a cute little building and you have to drive up around back to get to the front of the store. This store was packed with so many great finds! Set up like a cozy little home, you could open up dresser drawers and discover a plethora of silk scarves and in the next one some vintage slips. Underneath tables would be baskets of shoes, and well, purse were everywhere, on chairs, tables and hanging from coat racks. I love stores that make you feel like you've just uncovered the perfect find. The store owner was more than helpful suggesting a few items ...

Getting over the hump

Image
Finally the Summer weather is upon us! No more tights, no more cardigans needed (for now). I took the opportunity to wear one of my rompers and decided to forego tights. Eeep! So short! I'm really not used to showing so much legs! yikes. As we're approaching the weekend I'm getting more and more excited. You see Nickie and I have decided to get out of the city for memorial day weekend and go to the quiet mountainess Poconos. She's going up on Friday and i'll be joining her on Saturday. I still haven't had much time to see what the heck there is to do there but i'm just looking forward to not being in nyc, maybe checking out as few farmer's markets and some memorial day parades. I already have some cute weekend casual outfits planned out, now I only have to check out the weather to see if it's appropriate. { Thanks for all of the comments on my new tattoo! I super appreciate it. And yes, it is going to be colored at some point and will be going up to ...

Un peu de tout

Image
{ a little bit of everything } I think I finally found the perfect spot for my morning pictures. The lighting first thing in the morning is a tricky thing to get right in pictures. I quite like this background too. So I guess this is my new spot, hope you like it.                    I really am wearing a little bit of everything: My lace top: girly my acid wash shorts: edgy vintage loafers: preppy This pretty much sums up my style. Except for the edgy part, I don't think i'm at all edgy,  I never could pull that off as I much rather color over black. After a very long week, i'm so happy that its Friday. Tonight I'm going to see The Runaways with Nickie and her BF (yes, i'll be the 3rd wheel, but its the story of my life, i've come to accept it). I'm not all that familiar with the girl band or Mrs. Jett herself, as I said, edgy , was never my thing, but I thought why not, it's Friday, and...

Those darn shorts again

Image
I'm not really sure why, but I can't get enough of these shorts. They're unflattering and so 80's but I love them. Today I paired them with a floral romper (also from the 80's) to add a little print into my life. The romper has shoulders pads and the bottom part of it is way too long, i'm going to have to hem them up and it's missing a button right at the belly button so I have to fix that as well. Can you tell I didn't even try it on at the store? I couldn't be bothered at the time since I had about a million layers.  I got it over the weekend while out and about with Nickie after the Brooklyn Flea. I really hope to have more weekends like the one that just passed. You know those days where you don't really make plans and just go with whatever come along? Yeah, can't wait. For a better recap of our Saturday and pictures, you should read this post from Nickie. Ok this week I vow to go back to the gym (after a one month hiatus), sta...

I'm kind of in love

Image
...with this outfit!! In the last few days I've been coming up with some cool outfit ideas with what I have in my wardrobe. These things come to me at the weirdest times so I've started a habit of jotting them down in my Blackberry Memopad. If I were to lose it, people would see: Thursd.outfit: high waisted shorts, print blouse, red tights, loafer (?) boots/rain. Hair insp.: bob, hairpiece, bow (?) knit, prop glasses.... Yup, doesn't exactly make sense but I use it as a reference tool in case I ever forget these clever little ideas that pop into my brain. This said, I knew exactly what I was going to wear this morning and with a few tweaks it came out just as planned. My family has pointed out that it freaks them out when I wear these glasses and friends have mentioned that it throws them off. I felt that they were the perfect accessory (o.k prop) for this otufit. So I compromised and included pictures with and sans glasses. Yes, those are suspenders you see. I forgot I had ...

The Sweater Vest

Image
First of all, I'll just point out that, yes, I need a fringe trim. I scheduled an appointment for Sunday. When I came across this little sweater vest at Beacon's Closet, I knew I couldn't resist. I mean, as a knitter, I can appreciate a cute fairisle when I see one and these colors are exactly what I'm looking for come Spring. Plus, it had a yellow tag, which means that it was 50% off that day. What I love about taking pictures in my backyard is that I can take my time and even focus on details. You can see the little houses and trees on the print of this vest, pretty sweet, right? Probably something I would've overlooked if I was trying to snap these quickly on the street. This outfit is a winterized version of this one, from a long while ago back in April. Using the same blouse and shorts, adding a few layers, gives it a whole new life.
