Pâques

I hope everyone had a great Sunday, whether you celebrate Easter or not. I had to run out this morning and get a few more ingredients for our Easter brunch and was pleasantly surprised at how warm it was in Brooklyn. People were walking around in tee-shirts and shorts! Just makes me realize how close we are to getting this kind of weather on a regular basis. So we had a great little brunch with friends. The menu included scrambled tofu, banana bread, roasted potatoes & veggies, fruit pizza, and a lemon tart {the only non-vegan item} After brunch we headed into the city to attend a photo exhibit for two of my friends that completed their photography class. The exhibit was held a Photo Manhattan, where the classes were taken, and showcased the students best 6 photos thaken through the class. I was honored that one of Nickie's photos included myself as the subject {pictured on top left side of picture below} {I forced them to take this picture in front of their artwork, just like ...

Pink Pleats

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I flew back from Vancouver on Friday, loosing 3 hours to the time zone so my whole day was a write off. I got in pretty late after having to take the train and then subway all the way to Brooklyn. Feeling pretty beat and not having any outfit to post, I ended up catching up on alot of blogs that I so dearly missed! Saturday was Nickie and I's friendship anniversary! Yup, one year ago yesterday, Nickie and I met up in Williamsburg, went shopping and then had some drinks until the wee hours. So to commemorate the day we did it all over again! The night turned out to be super fun and I can't wait to read up on her latest Weekend rewind. This is also the one year mark for this blog. Last year at this time I decided i'd do more outfit posts and what not, it's been a crazy one and I'm really grateful for all of you guys and gals that come back everyday to read up on my little ...

BK: Brooklyn

(photos taken by Nickie ) Alright, let me do a little weekend recap for you, yes? Friday: As I mentioned in my post I tried to see the Tim Burton Exhibit at the Moma. Well, after the line was wrapped around 3 corners (basically the whole block) I knew my chances of getting in were slim but stuck around anyways. After about 10 minutes someone came around to let us know that the exhibit was sold out. darn. I'm going to have to go some other time, like a random Tuesday or something. I then met up with a friend for drinks at Great Lakes, a local bar here in Park Slope. Saturday: I made my floral headpiece, blogged about it. I finally got a much needed fringe trim so that my hairs weren't poking out my eyeballs anymore. Plus my hairstylist is super duper nice so it's great to see her every month or so and catch up. That night consisted of reading, wine, blogging, chictopia commenting, basically staying in like most n.y.c.ers because of the cold. Sunday: Met up with some lovely ...

Yesterday, catch-up. Today, swap.

This is what I wore yesterday. I only took the pics last night after getting home from work and then had to get some stuff in order, then run right back out to go meet up with Nickie for some drinks. I read that there was a new bar in the neighborhood that served hot mulled cider (with your choice of rum or whiskey) so Nickie and I went to check it out. Turned out to be a really great place with great service and good atmosphere. We found two seats at the bar and proceeded to fill each other in with the last two weeks of our lives. We usually spend every weekend together but due to unforseen circumstances we've had some time away from each other. At the end of the night we pretty much deemed it our new winter hangout. Now if you'll excuse me, my coffee is ready and I have a few things planned for my day that I would need to get started on. I'm heading over to the Score! Pop up swap this afternoon and want to make sure I go through everything in my apartment and get rid of ...

A Little Coco

Image
Happy Monday everyone! haha, o.k, I know Mondays aren't usually happy but how else do I start a Monday post? For those of you wondering, the Haunted Ghost Walk I mentioned on Friday was excellent! My favorite part was hearing the erie stories and standing in front of the houses where it all happened. If you want to hear more go check out Nickie's new blog: Ghouls Night Out . She documented the walk and tells you more about the stories we heard. If you're into the paranormal you should become a follower too, she plans on having more stories and guest bloggers about the paranormal. You know, if you're into that sort of stuff. I'm wearing the black version of the tights I wore last Friday. They're definitely a direct chanel knockoff so I thought of going all out Coco and keeping to a neutral color palette today. After I took these pictures I added a black headband and cameo ring as accessories, which by this time I was already running late for work and could not tak...

Idee goes Wild (as a Mink)

Image
Oh my, Fall has definitely arrived in NYC! It's gotten considerably colder over the past few days and this week's high is not even near the 60's! Time to break out the layers, coats, hats and mitts. Yes, I love this time of year. I've been busy knitting up a storm and will have some new knitted things up in my Etsy shop this week. I think I might try to update it every 2 weeks, which to me, is totally manageable. As much as I love Fall, there's someone who loves it more than me. My friend, and fellow blogger Nickie who blogs at:  Wild as a Mink  is full on ready for this season. Today I took style inspiration from a look that she masters. The short dirndl skirt, paired with a casual top and of course, accessorized with a chain necklace. Kind of what she did here , and a summer version of it here . I mention Nickie alot in my posts but honestly, we spend so much time together that its hard not to! Its really nice to have a friend that understands the "blogging w...

Tiki drinks & Elvis impersonators

Image
I'm still here! Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend but I've been busy. I've been busy doing real life stuff, you know, like sleeping way too much, eating alot, drinking just a bit, laughing with friends, spending quality time with my man. Now it's Monday and I'm back. So I give you the pictures I promised from Saturday night, where my friend Nickie had her birthday bash. I went with one of my vintage dresses. I thought it would really suit the Tiki bar's retro vibe and fit right in with the Elvis Impersonator. My hair I arranged in a mini bouffant/beehive. Nickie wore one of her awesome creations. Complete with cape à la Elvis. Here she's sipping on a Stormy Skull tiki drink. No party would be complete without an Elvis Impersonator And more pictures: Hope everyone had a great weekend! All things Girly

Image
This post will be as rushed as the taking of these pictures this morning. To counter-act yesterday's outfit, I did go very girly today. I love the ditsy print of this dress and the fact that my purple tights matched perfectly. Just the sort of outfit a girl needs when she's feeling unispired. Tonight I'm heading over to the boyfriend's house, I haven't seen him in forever due to busy schedules so I'm excited about that. I also have been trying to plan an outfit for Nickie's 30 birthday bash !!! It's this Saturday and I think that the theme is leaning on the retro side complete with an Elvis Impersonator. Honestly, she's been planning this for what I think might be a year now, so this is a big day for her!! I can't wait to post pictures and finally decide on what dress to wear! If you're not following her, you should!! She's awesomly ( i know this is not a word ) entertaining, my personal fave is her "Weekend Updates" and not onl...
