{In boxes} Just thought I'd let you all know, I've been unpacking like a mad woman in order to be able to put together a decent outfit for this blog. These past days has been more like, grab what you find kind of outfits which to be honest, aren't at all blogworthy. I got back from Vancouver on Saturday morning {red eye} , slept, and got my closet in order. Sunday was a little more unpacking but then we headed out to lunch and  hit up K-mart to pick up a few apartment necessities. Moving right along, thank you so much for all of your comments on my last post. I can't wait to show you my namesake romper as soon as the weather warms up. Or, if I really wanted to, maybe paired with tights and a cardigan would make it suitable for this type of weather .... {Fishtail braid} I'm finally back on the Delightful Dozen train. It seems to go in waves as we're all very busy bloggers and well, styling things up is sometimes hard work! This is me modeling Annie's romper. Yes, it's a romper ! Cute right? I didn't take a back shot, because well, I want you to come back so i'll save you the behind the scenes shots. Just take my word for it that this cute little number is in fact a romper. I knew exactly how I wanted to style it up the second I got it (yesterday). Now if only all of my clothes would be this easy. Oh and this is my first attempt at a fishtail braid. I know it kind of looks like a regular braid, I realized that the key to getting a nice "fishtail" look is to grab smaller pieces. All I did was bring up "fishtail tutorial" on you tube and followed the first one. It's pretty darn easy so I think you might be seeing it again  alot. There's a sweet little interview with my over on Chelsea...

Not too much to talk about today. I do have to say that I kind of felt like I belonged in a John Hughes movie in this outfit. Totally 90's. I could be Molly Ringwald's BFF wearing this. I scored this romper at the swap that Nickie and I had hosted a few months ago. I've been hesitating to wear it ever since but I figured with a tailored jacket and some tights it could be not-so-nineties. I think I'm going to put it up on the Delightful Dozen swap to see how the other girls would wear it. Oh and did you know that the D12 now has a Tumblr ? I'm not sure how to do anything on it just yet but stay tuned or make sure you follow us because i'm sure once one of us figures it out, we'll be all over it. A la plage

Here are some pictures from my trip to the beach. it was a beautiful, not too hot day. I think this was my first time at the beach all summer. Before I left on Friday I received a few packages from the Delightful Dozen girls. Tieka's dress I wore yesterday and this romper from Vintage Virgin. I knew it'd be perfect for a beach setting photoshoot. I paired it with my Liberty for Target bikini top and yes, I'm wearing flip flops. I can only justify wearing them at the beach and at home. I had my real shoes in the car. I absolutely loved this old school frozen lemonade truck. How perfect for the beach? And here's a slightly different take on the outfit. You can see it was a little windy so I added my cardigan to make up for a little preppier styled romper. {pictures have been edited with picnik application, using the 60's effect} Outfit: romper} Modcloth via Vintage Virgin Bikini top}Liberty of London for Target flip flops}Havainas Cardigan} thrifted Anne Taylor Sungl...

Des lilas dans la ville

I've really been immersed in pastels this summer. They're so easy to wear and make any outfit look really "pretty". When Spotted Moth sent me this Lilac Romper , I immediately fell in love with it. Most of my rompers are way too casual to try to pull off in a work environment but this one is dressier and doesn't make me feel like I'm going to the beach. I paired with with my nude bocce heels and vintage rose belt and went on my way to work. The best part? it has pockets! I checked out their site and I couldn't believe everything was so cute and unique. Did I mention that their prices are super reasonable? Definitely a new site to add to my shopping list. Amidst my busy week, I took some time last night to update my blog shop . Go check it out and let me know if there's anything there that catches your eye. Summer in the city

Image
Although it's been really hot all weekend, by Sunday I was begining to really feel it. I think I ended up changing outfits about 4 times! Everytime I left the house or got back home I would be uncomfortable and needed to once again try another combination of light weight items. This was outfit numéro un, since I woke up early and headed to Trader Joes                                                                               The romper is originally from Kristin of Leproust vintage . It's been making the rounds with the Delightful Dozen ladies and I'm not sure where it'll end up next. It's such a fun piec...

Getting over the hump

Image
Finally the Summer weather is upon us! No more tights, no more cardigans needed (for now). I took the opportunity to wear one of my rompers and decided to forego tights. Eeep! So short! I'm really not used to showing so much legs! yikes. As we're approaching the weekend I'm getting more and more excited. You see Nickie and I have decided to get out of the city for memorial day weekend and go to the quiet mountainess Poconos. She's going up on Friday and i'll be joining her on Saturday. I still haven't had much time to see what the heck there is to do there but i'm just looking forward to not being in nyc, maybe checking out as few farmer's markets and some memorial day parades. I already have some cute weekend casual outfits planned out, now I only have to check out the weather to see if it's appropriate. { Thanks for all of the comments on my new tattoo! I super appreciate it. And yes, it is going to be colored at some point and will be going up to ...

Aside from Blogger being annoying and taking hours to upload each pic, today is so far, I pretty prodictive one. I've already ran some errands this morning, had lunch, and now getting ready for an afternoon in the city. Yesterday didn't exactly go as planned so I was kind of bummed and didn't want to do anything so I stayed home and had a quiet night. This is what I wore out just bumming around Brooklyn. This is the first romper i've ever bought, I think it was a probably over 2 years ago, when rompers were really hard to find. It'll always hold a special place in my closet. Speaking of closets, I've been updating my blog shop today and will continue to do so this afternoon. So make sure you check it up, prices are super cheap! Outfit: Romper}UO Shoes}Zara Cardigan}UO

Lunettes de Soleil

Just an update from yesterday's outing. As I had mentioned, I had lunch with Nickie , Nikka , and Dusty Rose Vintage . We then headed to the Calvacade in Greenpoint where we enjoyed some beers on their rooftop, in the sun. It was a fabulous day. By then, it was just down to Nickie and I, so we made our way to a BBQ that a friend was having, ended up making the mistake of not eating and without realizing it skipped out on dinner all together in exchange for more beer. And of course we didn't stop there. After leaving the Upper East side to make our way to down to Brooklyn,we made a little pit stop at the Bell House which was mistake number 2, this place has a tendency to suck you in. It's like time just freezes and then all of a sudden it's 4am and the place is closing. Well, the fact that it's so close to home is kind of nice at this point, and the walk is definitely needed. Needless to say that today was  spent sleeping, lounging and trying to get some knitting don...

A sunny quickie

Image
Just a really quick post before I get to day 3 of coachella!! Ahh! It's been such a great time and I have so many pictures to show you all but unfortunately I don't have the means to get them all on Christina's laptop that she's so generously letting me use right now. So here's just a few taken with her camera.... These were taken on our arrival on Thursday. After a 8 hour roadtrip from Nevada to the Palm Desert to be more accurate. We got out and quickly decided to take a walk around the villas from where we're staying. You know, checkout the pool, hot tub, restaurant scenes. I decided it was the perfect time to sport one of my rompers as I wasn't planning on wearing them at Coachella ( port-a-potty's = get out of there fast). So far, the weather has been gorgeous, the days have been filled with people watching and listening to some great bands. Well, more to come, I promise!  Outfit: Romper}Brooklyn Industries (thrifted) Bag}Vintage via Value Village S...

Those darn shorts again

Image
I'm not really sure why, but I can't get enough of these shorts. They're unflattering and so 80's but I love them. Today I paired them with a floral romper (also from the 80's) to add a little print into my life. The romper has shoulders pads and the bottom part of it is way too long, i'm going to have to hem them up and it's missing a button right at the belly button so I have to fix that as well. Can you tell I didn't even try it on at the store? I couldn't be bothered at the time since I had about a million layers.  I got it over the weekend while out and about with Nickie after the Brooklyn Flea. I really hope to have more weekends like the one that just passed. You know those days where you don't really make plans and just go with whatever come along? Yeah, can't wait. For a better recap of our Saturday and pictures, you should read this post from Nickie. Ok this week I vow to go back to the gym (after a one month hiatus), sta...

Best of's for 2009 pt.3- shorts/rompers

Image
12:06am, yikes! I was hoping to get two posts done per day but looks like I've missed it by 6 minutes...or however minutes it is until I'm finally done pressing the "publish" button. In any case, before this blog, I never really thought that I wore that many shorts. Actually my thighs aren't at all to my liking and when I go to the gym ( I try) I usually spend more time on the stationary bike, and on the weird thigh strengthening contraptions...kind of like Susanne Summer's thighmaster. Well going through my fave outfits of 2009, I feel like shorts and rompers are definitely making themselves comfortable amongst my dresses and skirts...so here they are. It began Romper}Brooklyn Industries via Beacon's Closet I know this might not be a crazy cool outfit but on this particular day I met Nickie for the first time. Sunday's (not so) best

Image
I would like to point out that this is the reason why I usually don't post on weekends. My outfits consists of slouchy, comfty, relaxed items. I grab whatever I see and pile on pieces until an outfit is created. For today's 60 degree weather in NY, I decided to go with a summer romper, paired with tights and a slouchy cardigan. Keeping with the same neutral colors I felt that it hid the fact that I was going for comfort over style.  All I did today was walk up on 5th Ave here in Park Slope to wander into the shops filled with local designer duds as well as a few vintage stores, ending with Beacon's Closet. Looking at these pictures remind me that its just about that time to get a fringe trim. Good thing I made an appointment for Friday!                                          ...
