Dans un jardin, Sechelles Garden Party

Image
Last Wednesday night I had the pleasure of attending the Seychelles Garden Party right here in NYC. The space was made up of flowers, wicker baskets, garlands, whatever you may think of when you attend a garden party. It was quite magical really. Here's what I wore to the event: Outfit: dress| kensie ; blazer|UO, thrifted ; boots| c/o Seychelles ; tights| H&M It was such a pleasure hanging out with such a cool group of ladies. Here are a few pictures from the night. They teamed up with MOR Cosmetics and TLO to offer up a little pop-up shopping as well as browsing the cool new styles for Spring from Seychelles and BC Shoes. I spy homerunballerina! The lovely ladies from Seychelles and MOR Cosemtics. Of course Nickie joined me as we sipped on some fun cocktails provided by Chopin Vodka, and hit up the smilebooth . As you can tell we had a blast. If only I didn't have to work the next morning, I would've stayed just a tad later!

{The red door} I need to confess that I've been holding this dress hostage for a few weeks now. It's from the Delightful Dozen and I just couldn't figure out how to wear it...until now. The only way to tone down the brightness was to pair it with navy. I accessorized with some brown accessories and thre in a purse just because I usually never use my purses in my posts. As it turn out it's actually one of my fave outfits! I can finally pass this dress on to the next lady in line. Hope everyone had a great weekend and didn't get too much rain on Saturday. I'm not sure of other parts but lightning and heavy rain got everyone in Brooklyn staying indoors. Thank goodness for the sun coming out on Sunday so that we could get on with our weekend {and take outfit pics}. Well you can't see it in these pictures but my hair has gone from unrully to just plain ridiculous. I haven't had time to get in  a proper appointment at a salon like I've been planning on doing for the past...what's it been two, three weeks now? but fear not I scheduled one in for next weekend. This top knot has been my go-to one too many times these past few weeks. I haven't been to see a professional in a very long while as some you you will remember this story that changed my whole outlook on professional haircutting. The reason why I now feel like I need to get it done  "expertly" is because i'm trying to let it all grow out to normal status {as in, not rockstar hair} for my sister's wedding in June. I still haven't dyed it, bringing that count up to 6 months now. I've got some pretty gnarly roots growing in but I'm hoping that a proper cut can rectify that situation. I can safely say that my whole fringe is now 100 % my original ...

Robe Angélique

When I wore this outfit to work the other day my boss said to me halfway thorugh the day: "When you got dressed this morning, were you thinking about the clouds? or the angels? the virgin Mary?". I tried to not get too defensive and wanted to hear what else he thought about my outfit before pleading my case. Well, turns out I didn't have to. He knew exactly what I was going for. I wanted to tone down the airy, chiffon girlyness of the dress by pairing it with black tights and my Seychelles booties. He got it. He loved it. Pheww. I still have a job. (Haha, just kidding. The fashion industry isn't THAT harsh.) This dress is from my swap with Emily . This is the second light blue item she swapped with me and I'm begining to think that I've been missing out. I don't think I own any baby blue-ish color in my wardrobe. Just another reason why I love swaps so much. It gets you thinking out of your comfort zone and gets you to wear things that you wouldn't hav...

{The Proof} It's been just over a month since I decided to share with the world {readers} my resolution to not buy anything new in 2011. As promised, I told you that I'd update you with my thoughts, observations, and maybe even frustrations that I encounter along the way. I've been too busy to shop. This is a good thing since the temptation hasn't even been there! Well, once when I found myself in Urban Outfitters but I stayed strong. I still have so many articles of clothing that I have not yet worn! This dress is proof! I received this dress as a gift from this lady back in September { I think } and this is the first time I wear it, 4 months later. Please don't judge me. My closet { or non closet } space is still overloaded with stuff that it simply cannot hold anything more. I've been meaning to go through it and purge about 30% or more of it really soon. I find it hard going on twitter as every  4th or 5th tweet is someone tweeting about a new shoe/purse/de...

La Collectionneuse

{The lady that collects} This outfit didn't turn out like anything I had in mind. In my head, this dress (worn as a skirt) was a tad longer, this cardigan was a little shorter and I was...oh about 5 inches taller. Talk about an epic fail. I decided to post the pictures anyways because: 1. I had nothing else to post and didn't want to mess up my blogging schedule and 2. I'm not perfect and my outfits aren't always spot on. gasp! shock! yup, just a normal girl here getting dressed every morning. you win some, you lose some and you move on. Thanks for all your amazing feedback on my new resolution. I thought I'd elaborate a little more on what prompted me to do this. First of all, it's not really about saving money, although naturally, not buying new clothing will automatically help me in that department. The main reason was because I feel like I lost that love for clothing. I was buying things just to buy them and not really thinking: Do I REALLY love this? Inste...

Nouvelle résolution

Image
{New Resolution} With all of this dreary weather I thought I'd lighten things up with some pastel colors. I've worn this dress before but didn't get the chance to take any pictures but it definitely deserves a few pics. I've been loving mixing girly dresses with black tights & boots. Just the perfect mix of edgy and pretty. Well, since we're already in the New Year, I've decided to go through with my "No New Clothing" in 2011. It basically means that I will not buy any clothing that are new which includes shoes, and jewelry. The only new items I will be acquiring (in order for me to keep my sanity) is going to be selling clothing through Beacon's Closet or Buffalo Exchange and keeping my Blog Shop updated so I can then take the money and put it back in some second hand items from places like Etsy, or even blog shops. We'll see how everything goes but I'm pretty sure it's totally doable. The only exception I see that I will need to b...

Clin d'oeil

{Wink of an eye} When you're not sure what colored tights you should wear with a dress, go for teal. Err,right? Ever since I got this dress, I've been humming and ha-ing if I should go with navy, lavender or maybe even orange (which I don't own YET !) but then I decided to forgo all of that matchy matchy stuff and just introduce a while new color to the ensemble. I think all you need to pull it off is a little confidence. I love the cut out back of this dress although it's not quite work appropriate so I covered up with a cardigan for most of the day. It's such an unexpected surprise when you see the dress from the front. This is turning out to be quite the busy week so far. Tonight I get to go visit the Seychelles shoes showroom to preview their Spring/Summer2011 line. And we all know how much I love Seychelles so it's always so exciting to see what they're coming out with and which shoe I'll be coveting next season. Tomorrow I get to go to our Kensie ...

I've been on a hemming kick lately, mainly because I found myself with alot of longer length dresses and no desire to wear them that length. I thought I could do it but at the end of the day I just feel like a big ol' frump.  So instead, i've done a complete 180 and decided to go short AND wear heels. The ultimate combo into fooling people that you're taller/leaner than you actually are. Why haven't I been doing this sooner? Anywho, a few things to mention with this outfit. This ring was a gift from Spotted Moth . I personally think that every blogger needs one. It's just too cute and I feel like every blogger has a special relationship with their camera, or is that just me? Second, these boots! They're called " Romance " and I know why, I'm already in love with them. The fit is great and the heel is actually something that I can walk in. And in New York, that's saying alot. I think you'll be seeing these quite alot this fall. * Oh and...
