We all know how many adorable dresses you can find on Modcloth , I know because I own a lot of them. But how freakin' ah-mazing are these pants? While browsing through the site thinking to myself to just try and branch out of my comfort zone, I stumbled across these drapey floral lovelies . I wore them out on Sunday to meet up with a few ladies for our usual photoshoot shenanigans. After the shoot, we hopped up to the roof to take these pictures. Since it was Sunday and I was already running late, I paired them with a super basic white tank, my denim jacket that seems to never leave my body these days, and some heeled booties to compensate for my shortness. These pants are just so comfortable that I think they're soon going to replace my usual leggings that I seem to always wear around the house.  Outfit: pants} Purple P-Rose pants c/o Modcloth tank}Target jacket}The Bay boots}c/o Seychelles

So this was Friday's outfit. I realize that I need more casual clothes. I never go for basics like tee's, tanks or plain tops in general when shopping. I'm much more attracted to the printed, complicated, fitted items that you just don't feel like wearing on a casual Friday or weekend. On this particular day, while looking for one of these casual items I remembered that I have this top from Starr via our Deligthful Dozen crew. It's super soft and worked perfectly with these pants. I've had it ever since the blogger meet ups were going down during NYFW. I got to meet up with Starr and a few others outside of the conferences, and parties and just got to hang out, have some drinks in a grungy bar in the East Village and really just get to know each other without any "networking" or "blogger" stuff going on. I have to be honest, as much as it's nice to meet all these ladies, I definitely click with some more than others. I can tell who is in...

Merci, plain & simple

This outfit was what I wore on Wednesday. So much is going on these days that I feel like my posting schedule is all out of whack. That's ok though, next week I think everything will be back to normal. I love pairing black and brown together. I think it kind of looks classy, I never understood why it was a no no. I mean, really people? Why limit ourselves when it comes to our wardrobe. I say if you like it, go for it. here's a remix of these items worn in past outfits: I just want to say a thank you to all my readers that have stood by me all this time. It's really great to have a little support and even a few friends that are spread out across the states and even overseas. I know I don't get back to everyone that leaves a comment but i am trying to get back into it and make the effort to reach out to you, either by email or a comment. I know some people have the luxury to be able to get back to every single reader but honestly I don't know where they find the time....

Don't call it a comeback

Image
I know I never really left but I feel as though I'm back. This summer has been full of crazyness and my work hours were all over the place. Getting to work earlier than usual but then going out after meant late nights and minimal sleep. All of this basically being an excuse to be lazy with my outfits and uninspired. But with September right around the corner I see a brand new version of me (well, maybe just a little modified) and lots of new outfit combinations with maybe a few new items. I've been on a shopping budget ever since I started my tattoo and that will have to continue until it's finished so thrifting it is! Good thing that I have an upcoming trip to Ottawa over labor day weekend and sneak in some much needed Value Village time.  Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine included drinks with friends, laundry and cleaning and even a little gardening (you'll see that in this week's outfit posts) and being an extra for a music video. That last one is so very r...

Un pantalon

Image
With all of this busy time i've still been taking outfit pictures but just haven't had the time to post them yet. So this one's from the archives, going back to Friday. It also shows proof that I DO wear pants, occasionally. I find it really hard to find good fitting pants and I think the fact that I've been unconsciously boycotting chain stores doesn't help the cause. I think it's alot harder to find a nice fitting pair of vintage trousers than it is a dress. Plus, a dress is so easy to tailor to fit than trousers. I've seen alot of denim in September issues but they still have the annoying low rise. Why can't the nice denim comapnies realize that not everyone is keen on showing some butt cleavage? Is a mid-rise (or high-waist) denim trouser too much to ask for? Outfit: jean}American Apparel top}c/o Modcloth, (now on sale !) shoes}Worishofer, c/o of Modcloth

Style this- Old navy trousers

Image
Remember this? It's a handy little feature that allows me to post something other than an outfit post! I know it's been a little while but I haven't received any submissions so I thought I'd just let it be. Well turns out that you are still out there awaiting some style advice by moi. So thanks! This reader asked me to style up these Old Navy trousers without looking frumpy. So here it goes! Pre -Fall by Ideegeniale featuring Old Navy pants In order for these pants to not look manly, I suggest to pair with a delicate top. This one is a printed chiffon, paired with a lace detailed vest. I would go with a heeled bootie with this cropped trouser. This green one suits the earth tones of this outfit. If you are more of a flats gal, I would make sure that the flat is dressier. There are a few accessories that I wanted to add in. First some cute bunny earrings to keep the look girly, but then paired with a gold watch keeps it classic. And of course some spectacles since they...

On our way to the airport on Monday I was deep in thought about how great Christina's hair is and I remembered her telling me that she cut it herself. I made a comment like: "I should have asked you to cut my hair while we had a chance", she turns around with her eyes bigger than mine (yes, it's possible) and says: "We still can!". Umm, Christina? We're in a car, on our way to LAX. When or where exactly do you want to do this? By this time her hubs is looking at me from the rearview mirror silently shaking his head in a left to right motion. I think he's used to these crazy ideas of hers and by no means was shocked at the thought. We pull into the Walgreens parking lot, buy a pair of fancy scissors (or  a $5.99 pair that I won't mind to leave behind) and a shower curtain and get back to the car where we start our little hair session. Me sitting on the back cab of the truck and her standing outside snipping away. In less than 10 minutes she was ...

Introducing my latest Etsy purchase. I usually won't purchase vintage items on Etsy unless they're something really special (in this case) or really cheap. When I saw this cape for sale on Allencompanyinc shop, I ran into my boss' office, grabbed her measuring tape (I work in fashion) and started measuring my shoulder to hip. You see, shorty's and capes usually don't mix. For some strange reason everybody in the 50's and 60's had to have been over 5'7" or just liked really long dowdy clothing. When I discovered that this certain cape would fall right at my hip, I was sold and made the purchase right away. Although I did get some looks on the train/street today, I just made up in mind that they were all just jealous. Last night I saw Alice in Wonderland and was pleasantly surprised! I know, I wasn't expecting it to be great but I wanted to see it since there's been so much hype about it. A few thoughts: I don't think it should've bee...

This just won't do

Image
I planned this outfit the night before. Well, once I got dressed this morning and after taking my outfit pictures, I just knew I didn't want to wear this at all. There's nothing wrong with this outfit, actually I quite like it. It just wasn't what I was feeling today. I quickly changed into some jeans and my toms and threw on a tshirt, cardigan and cute scarf and was on my way. I decided to do a slight variation from the usual "milkmaid braids" so instead of starting them low on the sides with side french braids, then wrapped the bottoms around and pinned them in place. I'll probably get a tutorial up one of these days with the specifics. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch Alice in Wonderland! What to Wear...running errands

Image
Welcome to round two of the  "What to Wear" series. For round one I did What to Wear...to the office. You can check it out here . This time, I wanted to show some outfits that I think are totally appropriate for running errands and running about when those busy days strike us. I had these saved in a folder titled, Errands, in no particular order. As I was trying to pick out the key items that I thought would work for such a task, the was definitely a trend that became apparent in all pictures. Here's the recipe for a fool proof outfit while running errands: 1. Hat : Because you've got alot to do and can't waste it on your hair. 2. Jeans : Yes, not everyone has been boycotting pants. 3. Cross shoulder bag/totes : Because being hands free is so much easier, especially when lugging groceries home. 4. Flats/loafers : Maneuverability is easiest when you don't have to worry about each step. And here are the outfits that inspired me: Photo credits (from top left): 1....

It's Raining?

Image
I have alot to say about this outfit today so please, just bear with me... I'm quite surprised at how these pictures turned out considering it was raining a little when I was snapping away. I came out geared with my camera wrapped in a plastic bag with only the lens visible. I thought they'd be all grey or gloomy. Oh how we bloggers sacrifice... First of all, I am not going to take credit for this outfit. While browsing through an old (ish) People magazine yesterday I saw a picture of the most adorable Carey Mulligan and beau Shia and she was dressed just like this. She even had a headband on. I thought to myself, wow, she looks so comfty! I was jealous and wanted to recreate the look asap. So that's where this outfit was created.                                            ...

A jean day

Image
Just a quick post to show you what I wore on Friday. It was a jeans and t-shirt kind of day but a dressed it up with a new cardigan and printed scarf. After work I headed out to Babycakes for my fill of cookie & cream sandwishes and brownie cupcakes...all vegan of course! Good thing this place isn't anywhere near Brooklyn or else I'd be in big trouble. Today I'm off to attempt to find a skating rink. Maybe all this Olympic talk has got me inspired? I'm just happy that the sun is finally shining! Outfit: Cardigan}Heritage 1981 from F21 Jeans}Cheap Monday Scarf}Vintage via Value Village Boots}Vintage Belt}Vintage

Best of's for 2009 pt.1- Pants

Image
So I've been thinking of doing a "Best of" (of meaning outfits) to wrap up 2009. Well, apparently, this isn't all that original of an idea as many bloggers have already been posting theirs. So I started thinking of other ways to go about it, like best by month, or best by season, and then the merchandiser in me took over and I decided to give you The Best of by classification (ie: dress, skirt, top, pant). I'm starting out by giving you the hardest item for me to wear without feeling like I've just given up and am just like the rest of them: PANTS. Those who've been following me have heard my rants on pants (haha) before but I think I'm finally giving into the idea that pants CAN be fun too. Here's the proof, in no particular order: Paris anyone? Pants}H&M The perfect pair if highrise skinny cigarette pant. Fabulous Finds: past & present

Image
I woke up bright and early this morning in order to make my way to the annual Bust Craftacular. I arrived a little before 10am and the line was already ridiculous! It was all the way around the corner and it took about an hour for us to make our way inside. All of this did pay off as Nickie and I were the very last lucky gals to score a goodie bag! It came in a reusable tote from Blue Q and held some jewelry, hair clips, stickers, iron-on transfers, coupons etc..from numerous craft fair participants. Oh and lets not forget a copy of Bust magazine as well as the option of signing up for a $10/year subscription. Yes please. (Sorry Nylon, but you're just not cutting it anymore, where's my December issue btw?) As the weather has suddenly turned nippy, I decided it was time for the wool trousers to come out once again. I've worn these before here . They were a great find at Value Village a few years ago but its not until this year that I've worn them multiple times during a...
