Avant la pluie

{Before the rain} As promised, here is my outfit from yesterday. Recognize this backround? We took pictures on my friend's rooftop before brunch. This is the rooftop where a few of my pictures were taken last summer. I absolutely love the view! Since it was too hot to wear tights but my bare legs aren't exactly ready to be seen in public, I opted for this jumpsuit that I bought last year from Starr's shop, Action is the Fruit. I'm also trying to not wear boots anymore. I'm sick of them! Sandals are so much cuter and fun to wear! Well, by the end of the day the rain made its way over, thank goodness we just missed it and we're already at home napping by then. Hey guys, I just thought I'd pass on this once in a lifetime deal! Starr, from A Thought is the Blossom is closing up her etsy shop: Action is the Fruit . She has super sweet, one of a kind vintage items all marked down to $20 !! I'm not sure how much longer she'll be keeping it open so go check it out before it's too late*! Vintage Silk shorts, sz small Vintage 60's blouse, one size Floral dress, sz.Medium 70's mod dress, sz. Medium Vintage pencil skirt, sz.8 Vintage mini dress, sz.Large As much as it as a shock to see Starr close up shop, I can totally relate to the busyness that life brings. Juggling work, a blog, friends, family, sometimes you kind of need to put things in check and prioritize the important things first. *Of course, I already made my purchases so you won't be trampling on anything I had my eye on. hehe.

I hope you don't mind my indoor shots because you're going to be seeing alot of it this week. New York is expecting rain all week as I think most of the states are. I'm not really minding it though since it lifts all of the humidity and I can actually walk to the subway without sweating my butt off. When I mentioned this to some lady in the elevator who was complaining aboutthe rain she called me a "glass half full" person. I guess I sometimes am. I've been meaning to wear this super cute chambray shirtdress for a while but it's been way too hot to wear until now. I got it from the vintage shop Miskabelle and couldn't be happier with it. I mean, look at this fit. How perfect is it with no alterations needed, not even a shorter hem! I love the wood buttons and the puff sleeves. Obviously I was playing off the cowboy/girly by pairing it with a neckerchief and my brown boots. Oh yes, Fall is right around the corner. The shop is run by a sister duo who hav...

Une robe d'été

Oh why hello cutesy overload....glad to see you. Yes, once again a product of not feeling my best. I've been meaning to wear this dress but I wanted to pair it with this headband that I bought from miss Kaelah . I seemed to have misplaced it over the last month and finally found it tucked away in one of my suitcases. I must have packed it on my Vancouver trip and never brought it back out. Since I had to pack last night for a little trip up to Ontario this weekend, it magically resurfaced! Hooray! I like how the two prints are so similar but still different colors. This dress goes perfect with my new cut out loafers from BC Footwear . I'm really leaning towards lighter colored footwear these days so these will definitely get alot of wear. They're perfect for summer outfits. So as you read this I'm making my way up North to attend my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary party. It's just a short little trip but I get to see most of my family and spend time with ...

Quoi de neuf?

I know what you're thinking, this outfit is so..basic. But honestly, I do have days where I just want to wear jeans and a tee-shirt. Now since it's 90 degree weather right now, I went for jean shorts (cut below the knee and cuffed) and a tank. I added the pinstripe shirt on top to cover my crusty tattoo. Yup, still healing, so no close up pictures yet. It should be ok by this weekend, at least, that's what I'm hoping since there's a little phottoshoot in the works with my friends over at Dusty Rose Vintage . After looking at these pictures I decided to tuck in the front of the tank a little just so I didn;t look so sloppy, just a tip if anyone is looking to go casual. If you follow me on twitter you'll have already seen that I'm temporarily closing up my etsy shop . I feel like I've already been neglecting it, and don't want it to be some half-assed attempt to run a shop. So in lieu of this, I'm currently offering a 25% discount on everything in ...

Enfin Vendredi

This summer will be my summer of jumpsuits! O.k, maybe not really but I guess I'm feeling that way since I've acquired 2 vintage jumpsuits this week. This is the first one, from the Etsy shop Alameda Vintage based in LA. It's a structured cotton, with a ditsy print floral which is so so cute when you see it up close (unfortunately my close up pics turned out really dark so I couldn't post them, but fear not, I'll be sporting this bad boy again this summer). The trick to finding a good jumpsuit is making sure that you're staying away from the super 90's prints and structures. Like bold prints can be a little scary with so much material or something with sleeves, breast pockets and shoulder pads can definitely put you in the dynasty category, NOT GOOD . But other than that, jumpsuits are so fun!! As for my weekend plans, I have another photo shoot lined up with my girls from Dusty Rose Vintage , Wild as a Mink , and Showgirl Godzilla . The weather is suppose...

I don't even know where to start with everything that is happening in my life right now. Everything is just speeding by so fast that i wish it would slow down but then, I'm excited for whats to come. How does one choose?  I  mentioned on Sunday, that I was adding new headbands to my etsy shop. They're now up and look like like the one i'm wearing today. This black one is actually a special request that I finished last night but other more springtime colors are available. I want to thank everybody that takes the time to browse through my etsy and blog shop . The response has been so positive and encouraging that I'm going to continue and update as much as I can. I actually have a ton of Spring stuff to photograph so make sure you take a peak before it gets snatched up. Please don't hesitate to email me if you're interested in an item. I usually get back to you same day and if possible, mail out your item the next day the trasaction is completed. I'm keepi...

It's Bliss

Yoah, Sunday night already? I was having so much fun striking off all the stuff I had on my to-do list! Plus, I'm not done, so the weekend can't be over yet! That's what you get for a gloomy rainy weekend. I think I wasn't as productive as I wanted to be due to alot of napping and catching up on some Amazing Race marathons. I honestly do love that show, maybe i'll elaborate more on that later when they get towards the end. But what I did get done was these two new headbands. They were just a little project of mine that I wanted to try out. Next up I think I'm going to make some more skinny band ones just like these for Springtime weather (if it ever gets here). You can find these listed on my etsy . I'm always up for making some custom headbands as well. If you have an idea but haven't found it yet, please don't hesitate to email me! Also going on this weekend were items up for sale in my blog shop . I'm a maniac, I know. Lots of rummaging throug...

Peaches & Cream

Introducing my latest Etsy purchase. I usually won't purchase vintage items on Etsy unless they're something really special (in this case) or really cheap. When I saw this cape for sale on Allencompanyinc shop, I ran into my boss' office, grabbed her measuring tape (I work in fashion) and started measuring my shoulder to hip. You see, shorty's and capes usually don't mix. For some strange reason everybody in the 50's and 60's had to have been over 5'7" or just liked really long dowdy clothing. When I discovered that this certain cape would fall right at my hip, I was sold and made the purchase right away. Although I did get some looks on the train/street today, I just made up in mind that they were all just jealous. Last night I saw Alice in Wonderland and was pleasantly surprised! I know, I wasn't expecting it to be great but I wanted to see it since there's been so much hype about it. A few thoughts: I don't think it should've bee...

Gang's all here!

Image
Just a sneak peak at what is to come in my etsy shop. I was really excited about them, especially at how my first try at a lion came out. I think he's my fave! I went with some more spring like colors this round. Taking these pictures, I kind of felt like Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed, before she gets her makeover and lives at home and makes decorative pillows. Yeah, it's kind of odd photographing stuffed animals in your apartment. Look for these little guys coming soon to Little Knitty Things .

What's new with you?

I know these past few weeks I've been talking about nothing else than how busy I've been. I think it's mostly because I've never ever been this busy in my life. I've always managed to have enough "me" time scheduled in order to keep me sane. I think when we hit 2010, all of that changed. It has been good in a way but I still need to come to a balance of work and down time. But now I feel a little sigh of relief since I've accomplished a few things over the weekend and can start feeling a little normal. I've updated my Etsy with a bunch of new things. A turban style headband! I wanted something that would replicate the look of a turban without actually being one. I came up with this super wide nubbly knit headband in three different colors. They're super comfty and warm, and might I add stylish? You can pick one up here . Amigurumi animals I've posted three different animals. A monkey, an elephant and an owl. All three are keeping within th...
