Bit by the Travel Bug

Image
Back in September I met up with the Modcloth crew to take part in their Travel Bug feature. Have you seen this yet? Bloggers from across the world let us in on their favorite places, restaurants, historical sites etc... in their city. Living in Brooklyn, and being a fan of catching live shows of local bands I had to opportunity to show them a few venues, and even take them to my favorite pizza place. Here are just a few pictures from the day but make sure to visit the modcloth blog for the full feature ! Outfit (all courtesy of Modcloth): dress} Papermaking party dress jacket} Motor city jacket boots} From Zero to Sexy necklace} One Woman band purse} Never a Dull moment bag

Time Out

Image
A few weeks ago I was approached by TimeOut NY to do a photoshoot of some of my Fall looks for their Style Inspiration feature. Well, it came out today and I'm giddy with excitment! I just couldn't wait to show you! It's so funny to see myself in print. The first thing I said when I saw this was, oh my, i'm so big! haha. You can read the rest of the feature and see all of my looks here . Thanks TONY!

Style this- Old navy trousers

Image
Remember this? It's a handy little feature that allows me to post something other than an outfit post! I know it's been a little while but I haven't received any submissions so I thought I'd just let it be. Well turns out that you are still out there awaiting some style advice by moi. So thanks! This reader asked me to style up these Old Navy trousers without looking frumpy. So here it goes! Pre -Fall by Ideegeniale featuring Old Navy pants In order for these pants to not look manly, I suggest to pair with a delicate top. This one is a printed chiffon, paired with a lace detailed vest. I would go with a heeled bootie with this cropped trouser. This green one suits the earth tones of this outfit. If you are more of a flats gal, I would make sure that the flat is dressier. There are a few accessories that I wanted to add in. First some cute bunny earrings to keep the look girly, but then paired with a gold watch keeps it classic. And of course some spectacles since they...

Super Kawaii

What's a girl to do when she's been boarded up at home, sick in the middle of a Summer heat wave?? Well, put on a cute outfit and take pictures of course! There's so much to cover in this post that I'm trying to not make it so overwhelming for you. Last night it dawned on me that I still had this skirt that Jen from JenLoveskev sent me. I first spotted it when she had a post about the Swapaholics a while back and I messaged her saying that I really hoped that she had snatched up the brown lace skirt that was pictured. Well, she didn't dissapoint and even sent it to me for a Deligthful Dozen swap! I tried it on with a few things and nothing seemed to work so I just threw it aisde and kind of forgot about it. When I started thinking about styling up this skirt, I thought I'd grab inspiration from some Japanese fashion mags that I have hanging around. They're by no means new, I've had them for at least a year but they still offer alot more inspiration tha...

Style this: Modcloth Hepcat dress

Image
You'll have to excuse my lack of outfits this weekend. My lack of sleep and busy days have finally caught up to me and I've been feeling less than perfect since Friday. I've started taking cold fx in hopes to get this thing out of my system in 3 days so that I can resume plans that I have already commited to. I did have time however to put together another Style this feature, which is long overdue. I've been cursing this nasty heat and am desperate for Fall so you might see that in the outfit selection I've put together. Here's the email I received : I thought i'd submit a dress for you to help me style (whenever you get time!). its a dress similar to this one from modcloth. its a couple years old and from target. http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Hepcat+Dress+in+Black+Licorice I've done it w/ the black or red heels/accessories. Its such an easy dress, but some how i'm stumped as to how to style it differently. Hopefully you can jazz it u...

Style This: AA striped skirt

Image
This week's style this feature is all about the classic American Apparel cotton skirt. I know that most of us already have this skirt or a version of it(if you're like me, you bought it for $14 at Target) in our wardrobe. I thought it'd be a great way to show you how I'd wear it. Here's the email I received: I ordered this skirt from AA thinking it was darker, more black-ish, and instead it's more of a light gray. I was originally going to style it with a basic black v-neck and an electric blue cardigan with black gladiators, but now the entire outfit doesn't look as cute as I had hoped! Any ideas? A striped skirt by Ideegeniale featuring Kimchi Blue oxfords A few notes: I think this skirt is a perfect weekend look. I'd pair it with some kind of denim, whether it be a shirt or a jacket. Instead of gladiators, I'd go with loafers or brogues. Add a few girly accessories like a cute purse and bow belt. That way you don't look too casual. If you...

Style this: Neema skirt

Image
Welcome to the thrid installment of Style This! I'm so happy that you guys are loving this features, mainly because it's helped me considerably on days when I don;t have an outfit to post, or I've been away. So here's the email I received: I have seen the feature where you help people style some of their items and I think it's a brilliant idea! I have myself run into a styling blockage with a skirt of mine and I was even contemplating selling it without having worn it once because I am so at a loss as to how to style it!!! They unfortunately don't have it in the shop anymore, but they had a dress following the same design, it's this one in green http://www.uttamdirect.com/products/Neema.html  Do you think you can help me even with it?? With this particular reader I was able to check out her chictopia account and see what kind of style she has and what items she's already have in her wardrobe. So I tried to go off of that. Style this: Seychelles Scallop heel

Wecome to round two of my new feature: Style this! I've recevied a few submissions so far and jusr couldn't wait to get started! Not going to lie, this is a little harder than I thought. Since i'm always up for a style challenge I decided to go with this tricky one: I purchased these teal suede lovelies early this winter and have yet to wear them. Horrible, I know! I'd like to pair them with something other than just plain black (yawn), but when I think about wearing them with a print or white or cream, I worry they'll be too disco. They're so comfy and cost a lot (to me) so I'd love to hear your ideas about how I could wear them this spring. Could you help? I tried to pay more attention to the brands this time and make an affordable, down to earth and non-discoish outfit as possible! Not at a disco party by Ideegeniale featuring Forever21 jackets Things to note: Grey+ teal=LOVE Add a little gold jewelry to tie in with the gold on the shoe Keep your print...

Style This: Vena Cava for Gap dress

Image
I know I can always count on you guys to break me out of my funk. Just when I was saying that I wanted to add another feature to this blog, I received this email from one of my readers: Hello! I purchased this Vena Cava dress from Gap and I have no idea what to pair it with!I've seen people wear it by itself with black sandals but that is so boring. Any suggestions? I think it is so much fun to put together an outfit starting with a single item. So I was definitely up for it! I put together a set including some items that I would pair with this dress. I just started a polyvore account and am still new to it all, so bare with me through the early stages. Hence, I don't know why the model in the dress is facing backwards and I can't flip her around!hehe.   Boho chic by Ideegeniale featuring Miss Selfridge shoes Click on the image to see it full size Things to note: The dress has a bohemian vibe to it, so I wanted to incorporate some browns, even though the neck detail is...

Best of's for 2009 pt.2- skirts

Image
For the second part of this 5 part feature of my best outfits of 2009, I give you the skirt. Yes, it would be simpler to throw on a dress and get on with your life but a skirt is much more complex than that. It requires a mate for it to be paired with and possibly a few accessories like tights and a belt. A little more effort but when you get it right, you're feeling pretty darn great. Here are my "I feel great" moments wearing a skirt: A teal tulip skirt} H&M So many outfits have been created using this skirt. I decided to post the very first time I wore it. A red staple skirt} Vintage via Value Village Every lady needs a short red skirt in their weardrobe. It was actually raining when I was taking this pic, but I know you can't really tell. Getting started skirt}Thirfted via Value Village I had to include this outfit since it's been seen over and over  as part of my old blog header . Simply Blue Skirt}kensiegirl I love how simple this outfit is without being...

Double up

Image
I slept in this morning. Like, really slept in. I got up after my radio alarm had been going off for about 45 minutes. This has been happening alot lately. So in order to get myself to work on time I have to take serious measures. One of the things that I've started doing is making up an outfit in my mind so that when I do finally get my butt out of bed I can reach for said pieces and get going. This morning I wanted to be comfortable, well, looking at the pictures I would say that I'm stating the obvious. For my little spin on it, I doubled up on my scarves. One printed, one solid, together I feel like they make this otherwise plain outfit stand out. Too bad the heat in our office is cranked and I'm down one scarf and no cardigan. I feel like each one of these pictures focuses on different parts of my wardrobe: 1/ scarves, 2/booties, 3/hair bun. I didn't plan it out like that but it sort of works. Only 1 1/2 more days until Atlantic city! This will be my first time goi...
