Men's Fashion - How To Dress In Your 40's

Men's Fashion - How To Dress In Your 40's By Louise Owen The downside of being in your 40's is that you maybe carry a few extra pounds, you have more grey hair than you had before, or less hair, and the fine lines of your 30's are now clearly wrinkles. On the positive side, yes there is hope, you will probably be more confident and secure in yourself, be well established in your career and be comfortable with your own sense of style, having learnt from the fashion mistakes that you probably made in your teens or your twenties. However being in your 40's doesn't necessarily mean that you can rest on your laurels when it comes to fashion, the main principle is to accept your age and don't try to dress the way of a teenager or a man in his early twenties, you will go a long way to achieving this by avoiding the latest trends, which are usually designed for men of a younger age, be assured that your age will give you away if you try to keep up with the younger g...

What to Wear...to a music festival

Here it is, another feature of What to Wear...! As you know I attended Coachella last week and made sure to take some pictures of some stylish ladies. I wasn't planning on having it laid out like this, but it turns out that girls like to dress in pairs. All of the below were friends that just so happen to have matching outfits. It's kind of cute, yes? The hats are both adorable and functional to stay cool in the desert heat. The girl on the left is wearing cute floral shorts which I've been looking for forever.                Although I don't recommend wearing a romper when you're facing a port-a-potty situation, this girl looked super cute. These two are roomates and there outfits were coordinated before hand. Pretty sweet indeed.                   These girls really stood out from a sea of neon bikini tops and jean shorts. Their eth...

What to wear...to prom

Image
It's about that time of year again when all of the younger ladies (younger than myself) get to dress up and get their hairs did and their nails done and head out to prom! I was asked to come up with a prom post and so I decided to get my research on and let me tell you, it isn't pretty out there! If I could give one word of advice to you girls, don't go the traditional prom dress store route! It's scary and unoriginal and you'll never wear the dress again. I speak from experience. I don't know why I decided to wear a light pink strapless dress complete with tiara for my prom, but I did, really. It was kind of a joke because no one expected me to and I wore some vans sandals underneath instead of heels. Anyways, my time has past and I cannot correct the decisions I've made, but you, young ones, you can! So here's my take on prom dresses. Classy, vintage, feminine. Aranell looks stunning in this pale blue frock. The subtle lace details is just enough and ...

What to Wear...running errands

Image
Welcome to round two of the  "What to Wear" series. For round one I did What to Wear...to the office. You can check it out here . This time, I wanted to show some outfits that I think are totally appropriate for running errands and running about when those busy days strike us. I had these saved in a folder titled, Errands, in no particular order. As I was trying to pick out the key items that I thought would work for such a task, the was definitely a trend that became apparent in all pictures. Here's the recipe for a fool proof outfit while running errands: 1. Hat : Because you've got alot to do and can't waste it on your hair. 2. Jeans : Yes, not everyone has been boycotting pants. 3. Cross shoulder bag/totes : Because being hands free is so much easier, especially when lugging groceries home. 4. Flats/loafers : Maneuverability is easiest when you don't have to worry about each step. And here are the outfits that inspired me: Photo credits (from top left): 1....

What to wear...to the office

I'd like to introduce to you a new feature here on Idée Géniale! Every week or so I will give you my tips and suggestions on what to wear to a certain place/event/function. If you would like to send me your inquiry, feel free to do so, or just leave a comment in this post with what you'd want to see for the next one. Here's what sparked this idea of mine. I received this question and I had so many ideas as to what I wanted to say and show that I couldn't simply just answer it by itself. I get this type of question frequently and I am aware of the struggles one can face when needing to customize their wardrobe just for work. Here is the question: I work at a professional company that doesn't allow you to wear jeans. I'm normally a jeans a tshirt type girl and i'm finding it a little hard to dress/find clothes that are professional looking yet still fashionable, comfortable, and not too matronly. Do you have any suggestions for work wear? THANKS!! I broke it d...
