As you can probably guess, it's raining in New York. I had to resort to taking pictures indoors and was thinking to myself, now how can I make these look decent? I used picnik to edit them which I NEVER do. The pictures you see when i'm outdoors are never edited or touched up. Now that I say that, maybe I should probably stop being lazy and actually pay attention to these details. Well, this jacket is one of my beloved Mayle pieces. I don't think I'll ever be able to give it up as it's such a classic jacket. It's funny that I don't wear it more often. Today I took a cue from this post that I did some few weeks ago about what to wear while running errands. I didn't feel like dressing up, nor doing my hair so I ended up looking like a tomboy. But that said, I really like pairing some dark jeans with ivory and navy's as I feel like you can never go wrong with dark denim. This weekend the weather was amazing here in nyc. The warmest yet. I took advantage of it with brunch and a photoshoot yesterday and some shopping with Nickie today. I also cleaned my apartment, which was so overdue and took some pictures of new headbands that I'll be adding to etsy tonight. I'm keeping it short since I'm in the middle of baking some nut butter cookies and it's not going to well. They're just crumbling to the touch instead on being hard and crunchy. More outfit pictures taken indoors, but this time it was due to a time constraint for than a weather issue. Yesterday I woke up early-ish to go meet some friends for brunch at Essex restaurant in the LES. Unfortunately, Nickie couldn't make it which I feel really bad about since she chose the place. (Hope your feeling better!!) Now I must say, one of the great things about NYC the availability of the Bloody Mary (yum) cocktail. You see, the Canadian equivalent to this is a Ceasar which is made with Clamato juice (tomato+clam juice= Clamato) which being vegan, I find it pretty gross. But here in the good ol' U S of A, I can find Tomato juice stocked it basically any bar. Even better when they're offered at all you can drink brunches! Where was I? Oh yes, after brunch we headed over to Babycakes (i've mentioned them before) to grab some vegan baked treats, I chose a cinnamon sugar donut, and a pink lemonade cupcake...oh alright, and a couple of chocolate chip cookie...

As I stated in my hair post, today was a day off (Martin Luther king day). I wanted to take this day to actually dress down. What a funny concept it is to make an effort to wear jeans. I think we're a rare breed us ladies that love to dress up. At the same time this is what I love about the blogosphere, I know i'm not alone and alot of you that visit my blog is because you feel exactly the same. I love you gals. I took these pictures using my new handy remote, thanks to my dad's smart thinking this christmas. I still need to get used to it but it sure is alot less stressful than pressing the self-timer, running to my spot, then making sure I'm ready( nipped and tucked) and then smiling all in ten seconds. So after two delayed flights, waiting for the train in New Jersey, then cabbing it to Brooklyn from Penn station because I was too exhausted to take the subway, last night was definitely an early one. The good thing is that I have today off to get all the little things done, like get some food, maybe unpack, and do a little alterations from my new thrifted finds. Nothing too exciting. Believe it or not, I do have a few items in my closet that I've had for years. Case in point this Earl Jeans shirt, Roxy (yes as in Quiksilver's sister brand) jeans and Aldo turquoise moccasins. I've been holding onto the shirt because I'm in love with the print. It's kind of "japanese" looking (at least that's what I think) and for those who know me, its right up my alley. For those you don't, let me explain that I have a Geisha tattoo on my back, well, the right side of my back actually, maybe more on that later. This is what I wore yesterday. I only took the pics last night after getting home from work and then had to get some stuff in order, then run right back out to go meet up with Nickie for some drinks. I read that there was a new bar in the neighborhood that served hot mulled cider (with your choice of rum or whiskey) so Nickie and I went to check it out. Turned out to be a really great place with great service and good atmosphere. We found two seats at the bar and proceeded to fill each other in with the last two weeks of our lives. We usually spend every weekend together but due to unforseen circumstances we've had some time away from each other. At the end of the night we pretty much deemed it our new winter hangout. As much as I really love this outfit, I don't feel like my usual self. It may be the plaid shirt, or maybe the jeans??? Hmm, not sure. The shirt and boots are new from this weekend. They're both thrifted/vintage and I'm already in love with both items. I've been waiting to try a oversize plaid shirt for a while and I love the fact that this one is double breasted. I slept in this morning. Like, really slept in. I got up after my radio alarm had been going off for about 45 minutes. This has been happening alot lately. So in order to get myself to work on time I have to take serious measures. One of the things that I've started doing is making up an outfit in my mind so that when I do finally get my butt out of bed I can reach for said pieces and get going. This morning I wanted to be comfortable, well, looking at the pictures I would say that I'm stating the obvious. For my little spin on it, I doubled up on my scarves. Yes, I'm literally speaking as I'm actually on the street. This was taken outside the building where I work this morning, hence the appearance of my jacket. My coworker was nice enough to come out and snap a few pics of me since I was over at Chris's (the BF) last night. We had to take cover as it was raining just slightly although you wouldn't guess it from these pictures. Nothing fancy today, kind of took a more classic approach with a white shirt tucked into blue jeans and tan boots. Threw on the scarf to add pizzazz (did I just use that word?).
