How to Choose the Color of Your Prom Dress By Marjorie Steele and Patty Sanders Prom night is your chance to shine, and by choosing the right set of colors for your prom dress and ensemble, you can make not only your figure and your dress look fantastic, but your face, skin and hair as well. Use your skin's natural hues influence the dress color or pattern you choose. A dress which matches your skin's natural tone will make you appear more vibrant and glowing, while the wrong color can make you appear sallow, sleep-deprived or pale. Determining Skin Tone Before choosing a prom dress color, you must first know your skin tone! Skin tones are broken down into two main categories: cool and warm. People with cool tones have pinkish-blue undertones to their skin, while those with warm tones have golden undertones. The easiest way to determine which type you belong to is to wash all makeup from your face, then alternately hold silver and gold foil up to your face. The right metal wi...

In a perfect world, the thought of prom updo's wouldn't include tight ringlets, slicked side swept part, or tiara's. But alas, it's hard to deviate from the standards that society has built up all these years. Since I haven't done a hair post in a while {so sorry} I thought I'd put together some cool up do's that have been popping up on the red carpet these days. Maybe it's my last ditch effort to convince you to not regret your prom look in 10 years from now. I really liked this soft half up do. Especially if there's nothing fancy happening with the back of the dress . For mid-length bobs this is such a classy l ook . Ask for b i g round curls or its easily attainable at home. Braids, 'nough said . Even though this is side swept, it's not slicked back. Just perfect. Pin curls! Very retro . For the cropped hair girls out there. Start growing out your fri nge . I'm always a fan of the bouffant . Oh for my prom? Pretty sure I brought a ...

More pictures from the Dusty Rose Vintage photoshoot! This one was definitely " A Nice Day for a White Wedding " themed post. Super 80's white dresses, perfect for prom! 1980's Vamp shoulder prom dress 1980's tiered ruffle prom dress Victor Costa silver polka dot dress I'm so happy to have met these ladies! Honestly, the people that I have met through blogging has definitely made my time in NYC so much more fulfilling. It's a very strange city to move to when you're over the whole clubbing scene and are pretty much working full time and well, single. So having this group of girls to gab about clothing, blogging, broadway shows (yeah Nikka , that one's for you) is such a precious time for me. I know that sounds cheesy but it's honestly something that I look forward to all week. That said, we're all getting together tomorrow to pull some looks for yet another photoshoot and then some lunch, and after that...well who knows... this IS New Yor...

Another look from our Dusty Rose Vintage photoshoot! It really does seem like forever ago, but boy am I glad to have these saved up for times just like these! As you know by now, i'm away on a little vacay in California, attending Coachella with Christina (and her hubs)! I'm sure to have plenty of pictures of the weekend when I get back, i've got my camera and 3 memory cards all packed up and ready to go. Back to this shoot. This is the first look that we did and what inspired the rest of the day. Originially it was supposed to be strictly a prom post but then quickly turned into, a whatever-you-can-get-your-hands-on shoot. These dresses are so amazing. I mean, can you just look at this gold lame detail? It kind of makes me regret not going for something vintage for my own prom. If you like these looks, make sure you visit DRV's shop ! What to wear...to prom

Image
It's about that time of year again when all of the younger ladies (younger than myself) get to dress up and get their hairs did and their nails done and head out to prom! I was asked to come up with a prom post and so I decided to get my research on and let me tell you, it isn't pretty out there! If I could give one word of advice to you girls, don't go the traditional prom dress store route! It's scary and unoriginal and you'll never wear the dress again. I speak from experience. I don't know why I decided to wear a light pink strapless dress complete with tiara for my prom, but I did, really. It was kind of a joke because no one expected me to and I wore some vans sandals underneath instead of heels. Anyways, my time has past and I cannot correct the decisions I've made, but you, young ones, you can! So here's my take on prom dresses. Classy, vintage, feminine. Aranell looks stunning in this pale blue frock. The subtle lace details is just enough and ...
