I'm kind of in love

...with this outfit!!

In the last few days I've been coming up with some cool outfit ideas with what I have in my wardrobe. These things come to me at the weirdest times so I've started a habit of jotting them down in my Blackberry Memopad. If I were to lose it, people would see: Thursd.outfit: high waisted shorts, print blouse, red tights, loafer (?) boots/rain. Hair insp.: bob, hairpiece,bow (?) knit, prop glasses....
Yup, doesn't exactly make sense but I use it as a reference tool in case I ever forget these clever little ideas that pop into my brain. This said, I knew exactly what I was going to wear this morning and with a few tweaks it came out just as planned.

My family has pointed out that it freaks them out when I wear these glasses and friends have mentioned that it throws them off. I felt that they were the perfect accessory (o.k prop) for this otufit. So I compromised and included pictures with and sans glasses.

Yes, those are suspenders you see. I forgot I had them and when I was searching for a skinny belt, it was the perfect thing that this outfit needed. If you can't tell I'm going for a geek chic kind of look.

I usually don't wear this much black but that's where the red tights come in. I know there's alot of ladies who sew out there, and I wanted to ask, if I were to try to recreate these shorts, am I just crazy to even attempt? or is there a small possible chance that they come out ok? I've made skirts before with a waistband and lining so I know how to sew and the basics of a pattern but with shorts, you have the whole crotch thing that can get alittle tricky, am I right? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
