La Robe Jamais Porter
{The Dress that was Never worn}
Around this time last year, the ladies behind Rodarte came out with their coveted Target line. And just like (mostly) everyone else, I wanted a piece, literally. I made my way to the pop-up shop over in the meatpacking district, stood in line, marked the style and size I wanted on the order pad and that was it. The dress was mine.
One year later, I finally rip off the tags. How sad right? It's taken me a full year to decide how I wanted to wear this dress. It wasn't until I saw my fellow D12 (Delightful Dozen, NOT Slim Shady's crew) blogger friend, Beatrice, wear hers as a skirt as part of her Dressember pledge (she's wearing a dress everyday for the month of December! ) that I thought I should really try it out. I paired it with this vintage printed angora sweater and toughened it up with my black tights and Seychelles Romance booties. Done and done. No more guilty unworn items in the closet.
This whole issue kind of brings me to think more and more of my New Years resolutions. For this upcoming year, I've been thinking of going on a "No New Buying" ban (title is still in the works) which would consist of not buying any new clothing all year. Of course, I'd be able to work out a few exceptions, and would be able to consign clothing and in return buy new clothes using store credit, but I'm still a little scared of putting it all down (on the blog) because that means that it's going to be real and I won't be able to back out. I'm still working it all out in my mind but have any of you ever tried something like this? What are your thoughts?
